is this for 1 event or both? 40 bucks is a bit steep for 1 night.

It's per night. It's the parking lot that let's people out first, but yes it's steep. I'd rather pay 20 bucks and park outside the lot or park for free and tailgate, but wait the 90 minutes to leave.

That is a bargain compared to what parking is these days at some events in Chicago (see: Wrigley Field)
There's Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson......and then everybody else.

It's totally worth it!! Otherwise you sit in your car for hours after the show. Getting out of Tweeter is the worst!

I'm impatient, but I guess I'm an even cheaper person. :) I'd rather sit in my car for 90 minutes than pay $40 to park. Leaving the Tweeter Center is a pain in the ass, but at least they don't charge for parking (although you can argue that it is included in the facility fee that is part of the ticket price).

I remember when they first starting offering this a few years ago it was $20. Inflation has really hit big time

I won't pay it even if I have to wait 3 hours to get out of the venue.

or maybe I'll just leave the show after I hear Even Flow to get a good start.

I couldn't agree more. Especially since I don't need to get on 495 to get home. After I got to my car I was out of there in 2 min. last time. The people I was with that it was totally worth the $$'s.

I go to about 8 shows at Great Woods a year. (i wont call it the tweeter center) Fuck paying $40 they have lots right before you go in and they are private the charge $20 and you can do what ever you want. Smoke a bone no problem. Cops are in the great woods lots and they are dicks.

Can you do basic tailgating (eg, grilling and drinking alcohol) in the VIP lot?

Yes you can, Game, but the Pacific Blue guys on bikes (security) are everywhere. Someone made a good point in that there are smaller lots for 20 bucks before you enter Tweeter that you can party and have a good time and get out rather easily. The free lot is a blast but it takes forever to leave. The VIP is okay, and quicker to leave but I wouldn't pay it.

My philosophy is save money and get some exercise. Park free, jog to the car post show, and you can get out in 15-20 minutes. (Or just leave during "Freebird" like I did for Skynyrd a few years ago, but you won't catch me leaving early for Pearl Jam).
    This weekend we rock Portland
