Bunch of lunatics.
Saw today on the news they got violent during a protest outside a local detention center for illegal immigrants, a Greens MP was speaking to her followers stating that Australia is a big country that we should let them all in to stay.

Hang on...

Traffic gridlock on our roads
Overcrowding in trains and trams
Not enough houses
Price of living

And they want to make it worse by increasing our population?
Bunch of lunatics that is all I have to say.

While I don't agree with illegal immigrants. The answer is certainly not putting them in urban areas like Sydney and Melbourne... If there is to be a solution, then (and I feel this with all immigrants, illegal or not cause we are running out of room as it is) is to build up the urban (like Wagga, Bathurst) areas and put these people in jobs, schools etc. (must be careful not to form ghettos I think. I know why they are coming, and I feel sorry for so many. But, if they are just going to put them into our already over-crowded schools, put demand on out over-crowded hospitals, turn our houses into units, and add more cars on our roads I won't support them.

    such a sweeping generalisation...

not all migrants that enter this, or any other, country form gangs and commit acts of violence...

most of the people arriving as they do are fleeing a problem in their source country and unfortunately there is no simple solution to this problem.

Look at the Sudanese here in Melbourne.
They held Miss South Sudan beauty pageants on two separate nights, one in the Sth Eastern Suburbs on Sunday night, one in the Western suburbs last night both ended violently and cops ended up hurt, one cop got glassed.
Then some poor Indian dude got bashed by 5 of them with knuckle dusters in the city last night, unprovoked, he was walking out of his apartment in the city. Lost his teeth and a split lip, he is leaving to go back to India.

I can't believe that we are only now brining in the rule that if they break the law while they are in detention having their applications considered that they will become ineligible. Should that have been the rule the whole time?

I'm all happy to have people immigrate, there are a lot of people who do it the right way, fill in the forms and shit before they actually leave where they are from, come here legally. These ones that pay some dude slot of money to jump on a boat to try and get here is bullshit. It's these ones that make it hard for the ones that do it the right way, and alot of worthy people miss out and don't get the chance to ever step foot in australia but these ones just rock up in a boat with no paperwork no I.D and they get let in, without us every really being able to prove who or what they are.

Worse, he is dictating to our prime minister on policies.
The Australian Labor Party was elected into office because the Greens gave them their votes.
The ALP must keep the Greens happy to stay in office.

so do white boys as well, the motercycle gangs are largely filled with white guys arnt they. and these people are responsable for a lot of crime .
Those that are protesting recently about their treatment at the centres should be sent home straight away, see how they like fending for themselves in camps on the borders of the countries they fled. but boat people have as much right to be here as I have.
maybe the aboriginals 200 years ago should have had the right to decide how people should come , then maybe we wouldnt be here either.
also what about the baby bonus, if we have too many people why are we paying for more

But surely the baby bonus isn't in place to encourage people to actually have a baby? As a parent yourself you know $5000 is fuck all in the scheme of having a kid, and that $5000 is probably spent before the baby is even born with doctors bills, and just the shit you need for a baby.

Surely no one is sitting at home thinking? Hey I need 5 grand, what's a good way to get five grand? Well fuck me I might spit out a kid, that will increase my financial situation a shit ton.

I wish fishy, I personally know 2 dumb as fuck 20 yr old girls who got themselves knocked up to get some cash of the government, then of course go on welfare as well, one has 2 kids to different fathers, the other has 1 and is preggers again now.
there are some very stupid lazy people out there.
Im of the belief that you should be set up financialy to pay for your own child, im just pointing out that our government actually encourages more kids
i remember the last treaserer actually said have 1 child for yourself and one for the country as well

And this is the reason there should be some sort of legislation in place before people have a baby to make sure they are capable, not just finically but mentally capable to have a baby. But I guess there is no way to control it.

you ask me to look at the geogrophy
The UK would fit within Victoria, nearly within tasmania, how much of either have amy desert to speak of !!!
sure our nation has many arid areas. thats true but our livable areas are vastly vastly huger than the UK
Then again look at a nation the size of afganistan, Iran etc that also have vast arid areas and their population is massive as well
Maybe its a bit of greed on the part of those who sprout their hate for others

No live here in the land of oz. Know exactly how good we have it.
been to UK quite a few times, great place.
and if you want to talk overcrowded, go to shanghai estimated to have 23,000,000 people
    go to india
so the uk pales to what china has

now look at china lot of arid areas, pretty much similar in size to us 1.3 billion

we are severly undercrowded, we encourage those that are here to have more children, but we we want to say no you cant come here in a boat. your bad bad peopl if you do

Kinda similar but kinda different, but there was just recently a big protest an my parents semi-rural suburb about a new development of smaller blocks of land. The people's main argument(amognst a massive list of just rediculous claims) was that there was not enough infrastructure like hospitals and transport ect ect. Well you do need the people for government/local councils to justify spending the money. But the other part where the bit themselves is they are building a massive hospital not more then 15 minutes away, and in the same area as the hospital a new train line will be completed by 2012. So tether argument was redundant anyway.

Ha ha, here is their list of reasons:
This is just a sample of how this development will affect you:

Bored teenagers walking the streets at night (There's NOTHING to do out here)
Graffiti on our homes, shops and streets,
    Crime will increase
Hoons doing burnouts late at night
Loud parties every weekend (with loud obscene language)
Massive traffic congestion at Woolies traffic lights EVERY DAY
Local bird populations will be wiped out by all of the new resident's cats
    Disappearance of our local kangaroos,
    Disappearance of our local hares,
Up to two dogs allowed PER DWELLING (barking constantly at night when disturbed by hoons)
Motorbikes & Trail bikes on weekends
Having to hear the domestic disputes from our "packed-in" neighbours
Kids jumping into our yards retrieving their footballs and tennis balls
Lawnmowers and whipper snippers going ALL weekend at least somewhere in the new estate
Need to keep your sheds locked and houses locked
Disappearance of our Rosellas, finches, sugar gliders, kookaburras, kingfishers, frogs
Goodbye to gazing at the stars...You won't see then due to so many street lights
The list can go on indfinitely but our current lifestyle WON'T if we don't try to minimise the density NOW.
