Think I accidently damaged stylus..advice?

OK guys I screwed up. I accidently bumped the tonearm causing it to fall off its resting stand (which caused the platter to start rotating) and it fell on on the platter and scraped along for a few seconds before I could fix it. Basically I have my turntable in a place that's inaccessible from my toddler and I have to stretch out my arms to reach it which caused the accident. Unless you all believe otherwise, I'm pretty sure the stylus is damaged and I am afraid of playing records on it (Really bummed about this at the moment). I have an Audio Technica LP 60...what would be a good stylus replacement for this model?

Thanks!

i recently had to track down a replacement needle, and it was kind of a pain in the ass because my turntable is so old, and the needle wasn't labeled. i would recommend removing the needle and examining it. it might be labeled with a serial number or something. if not, you'll have to use the inexact "eye test". i found this site http://www.turntableneedles.com/ to be the most helpful of the many i found for looking up needles. i also found this video http://www.howcast.com/videos/167990-Ho ... ble-Needle to be useful.

Just a few seconds? You should be alright, if you're worried put on an old vinyl you could care less about and spin it. You have to have an old record sitting around you dont care about, a garage sale find perhaps.

If the stylus is already pretty old, then I'd replace it. For the old record test you'd have to already know how much noise that record made beforehand in order to determine if the stylus may have been damaged.

I got the same model as the OP and I'll be looking to replace the stylus soon too. I don't really have anything else to add on the subject.

Thanks everyone for your resposnes. The stylus isn't old but I'm just concerned about how much damage banging it on the platter and having it scrape for a little bit would do. I'm new to turntables so don't know if I should be concerned or not. Some of the turntable/audiophile message boards have me really paranoid though LOL

Do you know which one you're getting?
