Upon ordering several albums on vinyl I needed to order a new turntable. However; it really is true that you get what you pay for. I ordered this one off of Amazon

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005 ... s_prod_img

and am now about to begin the process of returning it. Any advice on an affordable good quality turntable would be greatly appreciated.

And to top it off I just picke up Dark Side of the Moon while in NY for the weekend and now will wait for a new turntable as this one is not worth the pain.

save an extra $125 and just get this: http://www.amazon.com/Technica-ATLP120- ... =pd_cp_e_2

i've had one for three years now (got mine just before they implemented the usb :x ) and can't be happier. the reviews on amazon also are very good.

Go to a garage sale or estate sale. find an old turntable from the 70's. Buy it for a pittance. Look for a few replacement parts online (stylus, belt, etc...) When you're done you'll have a turntable that's just as good, if not better than anything that's made today.

I have a Pioneer turntable from 1973. It is made out of wood. I also have the matching stereo receiver. They are awesome.

Horrible sound quality and it doesn't seem to play the correct speed. There is no adjustment other than record size 33 or 45 rpm. So it's as if I'm listening to all of my music only slightly slower than it's supposed to sound.

Thanks for the input from everyone.
