Is Greg Mortenson a fraud?

If you've seen the "Sixty Minutes" segment on Mortenson and read further news about it (Daily Beast posted a good article, for example), what are your thoughts?
"Pretty cookies, heart squares all around, yeah!"
-Eddie Vedder, "Smile"

"Try to not spook the horse."

I just finished 3 Cups of Tea, I rushed to end the book because I lost a bit of interest after working at a book fair in my daughter's school and noticed the 2nd book "Stones into Schools" as well as the story of the schools in Pakistan he built converted to a children's story. It kinda turned me off that Mortenson is capitalizing so much on his act of good will. I understand one book, but the need for a 2nd plus a children's story? I just thought it was a bit overboard.

But reading that some stories in the book are false doesn't make me think less of him, I'm sure there's plenty of filler in the book, but that doesn't oversee all the good that the man's done. This article makes me think someone's out to get him. I didn't see 60 Minutes, but still, is Mortenson really a bad guy? He built several schools for the children of Pakistan! You have to be a special person to go through the trouble to get that accomplished, regardless who was funding it (wealthy donors).

I'm surprised to read what Krakauer's said though, since they were friends.
