I just purchased a turntable a few weeks ago but I find myself constantly thinking about records. I'm thinking about which records I'll purchase next, constantly wanting to make trips to new and used record stores to look through their supply, checking out ebay for records etc...

Is this normal? LOL

I'm self-imposing a moratorium on vinyl purchases for a couple months. It's out of control.

Yes...I think my "need" list is backed up about three years now..I'll go to a shop or get online with every intention of buying one certain thing but then something else will catch my eye and before I know it I have, The Hold Steadys, entire catalog when all I was trying to do was find the cheapest copy of Bruce Springsteens, The Promise.....Its addicting.

I just started my collection on Saturday at RSD. I dropped $125 when I really only expected to go and look around. I blew all my extra money so I don't have any more to spend at the moment but I'm already making lists and bookmarking sites that I've found thanks to people posting links on here.

Thing is, I don't even own a player yet. That's next on the list :-)

  • Got my first record when I was 5 years old. Now,I'm 33 years old, and I just spent $200 and a whole Saturday driving around Wisconsin burning up 3/4 of a tank of gas going to different stores looking for records...

...no, it doesn't go away.

I go to used record stores and spend $40 and get 20 or so records. Before I even listen to half of them I am back at another record store scooping up more vinyl. I literally never get to listen to everything before I get something else. On saturday I went to RSD with the intention of buying Nirvana Hormoaning and Foo Fighters Medium Rare. Both of those were about $30 but I ended up spending $125. It is an addiction that I am proud to say that I have.

Oh I won't. The store I went to was the store I use to be at every week when I was younger buying cassettes and then CDs. It felt great to go in there again.

I don't have a turntable yet either! Too many other things come up and I keep pushing the purchase back. Problem is I want to get a nice set up and my tuner does not have the old Phone input with a pre-amp. So I will continue to collect vinyl with the hopes of someday breaking open the piggy bank and placing my dream order.
