I've had travelling on my mind recently and after thinking of going back to europe, i then thought, what about north america?
I'm a bit of a nature girl so from a nature/scenic point of view where are some must see places? apart from the obvious grand canyon, yellowstone, monument valley

the mountains in the north carolina area are cool. outside of that, there are lots of cities around the country.

Especially the view from my balcony.
I have alot of time on my hands, I was thinking mid year around june/july
if you have a lot of time - i would suggest coming late summer and moving north to south ... some of the parks are just too hot in the summer (grand canyon and most of the southwest) ... i would start on the west coast where we have more scenic spots ... depending on how long you actually have and funds ... you can start as high up as alaska and just make your way down and it's one picturesque spot after another ... you want to time your visit so that you hit the america southwest for around late september where you'll have better temperatures and still decent daylight ...
also - best thing you can do is get yourself a national parks pass ...
some spots you must hit are fairly obviuos: Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Yellowstone/Tetons, Zion, Arches, Glacier ...
or wait until late august and hit pj20 while you are here. hmm hmmm
Alpine Valley is very scenic that time of year.
Ah yes, very true... hmmm this requires a lot more planning then i thought
