"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

they are one of the most important bands in music right now.
what i love about them is that they truly play as if the soul of every single person is at stake, and every show is their last.
crowd seems subdued by arcade fire standards
EDIT: Wake Up, so awesome. Easily one of my favorite live bands. The crowd singing along is amazing.
And that was without the glowing giant balloons. Good for the webcast, but I can't imagine I'd be happy about having all the balls block out my view of the show (I won't - I'd be on the rail, with no balls in my way

that was so damn good...
I cant wait to see them in chicago next week
My Movie/Music Reviews & Sports Blog
There was a crane over the stage covered in black. People were pointing at it with laser lights so we knew something was going on, but had no idea what. As cool a thing as those giant neon beach balls were, it wasn't some gimmicky show. The whole old-time movie theatre theme for the set was smart and well done (and thick with irony given the wealthy, suburban polo field setting).
By far the best show of the weekend for me, instant Coachella classic, and I had a feeling that I was watching the biggest, relevant rock band in the world, and they were still cool as hell. Already liked them a ton (they won me over at Coachella in 2005), but now they're one of my absolute favorites, period. A+.
Edit:
Found a YouTube vid of 'Wake Up':

mind you i flew all the way there just to see N1N, who at that time of ticket purchase, only supposed to be playing that show (the tour news went out a few weeks later. see also: PJ20)
Blew me away, still the best live show i had EVER seen. and yes, that includes my favorite band heard at this very site.
they were just starting out then. cant seem to get tickets to their local shows around here nowadays, and cant afford the trip to coachella again.
I can only imagine how good they are 6 years later; quite good as far as YT is concerned, but way better live for sure.
Similar for me in '05. I had 'Funeral' and dug it, but was floored by those guys, also the best I'd ever seen. I guess I love them. Who knew.

by the way....my take on coachella as a festival....very disorganized/ very short sets and too many frickin young kids acting like jackasses. i loved the experience of being in california as i've never been there/ and not having to sleep in a tent, but as for the festival itself, out of the 3 big ones that i've been to, coachella, lollapalooza and bonnaroo...coachella was the worst. i camped out at the rail all day saturday for all the amazing music that was being played on the mainstage. erykah badu, broken social scene, bright eyes and arcade fire in particular....by the time bright eyes was done i had about 4 rows of douche bags crammed in front of me. have no idea how they got there. i had to crowd surf my way over the rail because i couldn't breathe. kids have no respect. i thought i was going to die during gogel bordello...other than that i really did have a great time though.
