The Head And The Heart

  • I listed to the first few songs on the Rolling Stone stream and enjoyed what I heard. I can't wait to hear the whole thing. They are among my favorite harmonies in folk/rock today. They are also really good songwriters. Very fun live band too. I caught them at a small club in Phoenix last year and was very impressed. Ended up getting a copy of the setlist at the end of the night too. That's the only time I've ever secured one of those at any show I've been to.

  • I've listened to the whole album a couple of times through now and really enjoyed it. There were two songs (track 4 and 5) that didn't do much for me but the rest was pretty good. Would definitely see them live again.

Love this album. Standouts for me are Homecoming Heroes, Cruel, Let's Be Still, 10000 Weight of Gold, and Gone. Great album though. Don't particularly like Summertime, or My Friends but the rest is awesome.

I agree about your standouts. Is it me or does Summertime sound like a Mannheim Steamroller Christmas song with a couple of flourishes of a Yeah Yeah Yeahs song? I can't listen to that song any more. I gave a few times through and it just isn't doing it for me.

I also agree with your standouts, but I do enjoy My Friends. Another Story is another standout for me. Great album!

I'm getting to see these guys for the first time live next month. Pretty stoked, just wish it wasn't on a Tuesday night.

Has anyone seen them on their current tour? No opener is listed on the venue's site. Is it an Evening with...?

Saw them in Baltimore back in May and they put on a good show, seemed they were having a great time. They did have an opener when I saw them.

I enjoy them sometimes as a guilty pleasure. Funny story my friend told me: Him and his friend were talking to a few girls after a show in Boise, just bumming around behind the venue when the lead singer came out with a guitar and all the girls ran off mid sentence. My friend was just like, "What are you gonna do, can't compete with that."

Nice! Have fun, man. They put on a great show. Looking forward to seeing them in Portland next month.

Don't like the new album as much as the first two, but it's growing on me. Not having Josiah be as much of a presence is somewhat noticeable. Hope he's able to rejoin them soon.

Just saw them in Minneapolis for the 2nd or 3rd time, can't remember! Wasn't that excited about the new album but it's growing on me and they were awesome live, even without Josiah. I do miss him on a few of their older songs.

Pretty flashy stage set up and lighting this time around. Walked out to One of These Nights opening riffs. Was pretty cool the way they timed the lights to it.

The drummer was killing it up there the whole show. A lot of energy and hitting hard. They definitely put on an entertaining show.

Good question. The show is listed as 93.9 The River Icebreaker Feat. The Head And The Heart and Band Of Horses with the Strumbellas. The poster for the show has a picture of BOH and THATH side by side with the third band is small print. I'm from CT and trying to see a concert in every state so just got cheap airfare to Detroit (only 115 bucks RT). I only heard about show as I'm on both bands email list. They both played same sized venues on their recent tour but if I had to guess BOH will go on last as they've been around longer and have more material? I actually enjoy them equally and won't be dissapointed if either headlines as long as one plays at least 60 and the other 90 minutes.

Nice! I was very tempted to fly out myself once I saw the bill, since my bf lives in MI. The Fillmore is a great venue, too! That's gonna be a terrific night. I hope you enjoy Detroit, as well! Very cool city with a lot more than you think to do (incredible food/bar scene in particular)
