Ever since I got Telephantasm I can't stop listening to this over and over. Not to mention the liner notes/artwork and bonus dvd with the music videos is very well done. At first I was a little disappointed with Soundgarden's reunion but with this and Live on I5 and the prospect of a new album and touring...I couldn't be happier! The bonus dvd I got with Live on I5 of Lollapalooza was also excellent, far better than I expected and made me wish I had gone last August!

For all the people skeptical or unsure, remember: this is Soundgarden we're talking about here. I'm not saying they can do no wrong but they haven't, really. Everything they've put out I've enjoyed. I honestly believe Soundgarden would prefer to not put anything out at all than something they felt was an inferior product. Even a mediocre Soundgarden album would be better than 80-90% of stuff coming out today. So, not only am I not worried about the new album, I'm excited for it and ready for some shows! Bring it on!

  • I'm really stoked about this now too. Isn't the dvd though only 3 songs? or a full show? most music out there today is nothing but garbage (yeah, I sound like my dad did way back when), except for a few like anything Jack White does, Queens of the Stone Age, Foo, among others.

It's so incredible to me that SG are back together. Friends of mine, though, are skeptical, as they are both HUGE SG fans, and thought DOTU was a terrible album. I totally disagree. What do you think?

I think you're right on the money and your friends are silly.

Down on the Upside is perhaps their finest work.

Edit---Yes, the dvd is 3 songs...Searching, Let Me Drown & Face Pollution. Great performances from all. I was especially impressed with Matt, he killed it, and no, that is not a PJ bias.

WOW. DOTU was an absolute masterpiece. Sure, it wasnt as heavy as Superunkown, but CMON. 16 songs and not a single one of them is a clunker? That album was borderline perfect. Just enough heaviness, (spoonman, never the machine forever with Matts epic drumming) ALOT of great mid tempo songs (rhinosaur, dusty, BURDEN IN MY HAND, switch opens, tighter and tighter) and 2 amazing slow and eery songs (blow up the outside world and applebite)

As far as I'm concerned, it is literally IMPOSSIBLE for Soundgarden to produce a bad album. Whatever they make will be absolute magic.

Most music made any time was garbage, if you're stuck on 4-5 bands that you enjoy today, you're missing some amazing music!
