Now every other show you see you'll have to say. That was great but it wasn't like when i saw the arcade fire for the first time.
You'll be chasing that euphoria for the rest of your like like a drug addict
Okay i'm only half serious i don't want to build it up too much, but you should expect to have some fun. They are great live.
It's funny you say that. I have a friend who last summer saw the Black Keys and then two days later saw Arcade Fire. When I asked him how the Keys show was he kinda shrugged his shoulders and said, "it was good, but I made the mistake of seeing AF two days later and they completely ruined it" LOL He couldn't even remember the Keys show because AF was so amazing.
has anyone seen them recently? Am I in for a good show? Thanks
are you in for a good show? are you serious? i saw them in 2007 and felt it was the single greatest concert i'd ever witnessed. i saw them last year for the 2nd time, and how do you top that? how do you go into the concert and not be disappointed? the 2nd concert was better than the first show. they are that good.
as ive said before, many people on here, and elsewhere, myself included view arcade fire's live show as nothing less than a religious experience.
they are the best live band on the planet, and once you see them live, you will most likely view every other live concert experience as a disppointment by comparision.
Seen them 5 or 6 times, and saw them last fall at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley ... the outdoor venue TOTALLY suits these guys.
I love their performances, they always put on a hell of a show, really energetic. But, don't go in with the expectation of seeing the best show of your life as stated above, if you do that, there's a good chance you'll come out disappointed.
Just go in hoping to see a good show and let the rest take care of it self.

to a certain extent i agree. there are some people who just dont get AF, in studio or live. and thats sad. so in that respect, maybe the OP is one of those people and wont like the band live. But as I said, I went into my 2nd show expecting a religious experience, and was given my favorite show of all time.
AF with the grammy win is a band im very curious to see what happens to them and their music and their live show.
their early days in the funeral and neon bible days, thrived on smallish venues with crowd interaction and crowd participation. nowadays as they are such a massive band, and are playing bigger and bigger venues, im curious to see how it all works out for them and if their music is better in the u2 type venues and arenas...
That said, they are the best live band in the world for a reason. it isnt just hyperbole, and im not the only person who feels they are such a deadly band in the live format.
if i was the OP i'd consider myself lucky. i saw them a mere 8 months ago and already am jonesing for another live show.
im hoping they plan a full US tour in the summer. but it looks like they are going to the UK.
They are one of the few live bands that I would easily travel to see. By few I mean Pearl Jam, GYBE, and Arcade Fire.
Fortunately, unlike PJ, they have a decent following and a lot of family here locally, so they seem to make it out this way while touring.
It is a different show than a PJ show. Not as much crowd interaction anymore with the larger venues (or rather babbling on like Ed tends to do, which I actually like), but still has an appropriate amount. The energy is amazing. I just saw them two days ago (for the post grammy wonderers) here locally, and they did not disappoint. I am not a big fan of large video screens, but the nostalgic style in the videos played really work well and enhance the experience, IMO.
Sorry for the shaky iPhone work, ha. I normally am not a fan of people that record while the band is playing, but I had a good friend that could not make it due to an emergency with his children, so I took a couple of shots.
I don't understand why people don't "get them" after a few listens, but different tastes, I guess. While their albums are all masterpieces, IMO, their real forte is their live performances. Hopefully you had a great time!
