Because he looked really different and bloated then. He's skinny again now...but why did he pile so much on?

He has Chrons disease, which when it flares up is treated with steroids, thus the bloated look.

I thought it could be something to do with that. I wasn't sure though. Thanks.

Also, people gain/lose weight. It's normal. Eddie even looked a bit chubby in 1998. This is life. :)

I have Crohn's as well.... Prednisone is the steroid most commonly used to treat a flare up and yes, it causes considerable bloating and hunger... I remember taking it for the very first time and I felt like I had just smoked a good amount of weed because I had the munchies like you would not believe... right now I'm trying to get my weight under control because the Prednisone put the pounds on me that and of course I enjoy my beer every now and then.

Prednisone, while helpful in the short term, can produce a wide assortment of side-effects.

When you have Crohn's, you go from not being able to eat (weight loss) to taking massive amounts of steroids (weight gain). You also develop a "moon face"...where the face swells up into a rounded shape.

Decreased energy followed by an enormous amount of increased energy.

    It's a roller coaster ride.

Yep it sucks... if/when I have a flare up I try my hardest not to go back on Prednisone. In the 2 years I've had Crohn's now I've only been on Prednisone a total of 2 times.... One time was when I was first diagnosed and another time was a flare up that I could not get under control and that time the Prednisone really fucked with my body in bad ways... I hate being on it, but it works well and it's very fast acting, so I was only on it for about 2 weeks or so.

I dislike it as well because of the effects it has on my body, but I'll be damn if I don't get the house cleaned, toilets scrubbed and all my bills paid & organized in alphabetical order arranged by date

    :D
