Is Black emotionally draining for Eddie?

Is this why it isn't played all that often? Or is the band just tired of playing it?

I know Ed once said there's a song he wishes they would never play again, yet they play it every night. I assume this is either Alive or Black.
What the fuck is this world?

I know he has been broken down while playing. boston 00 i think????

I don't think it affects him much anymore, he has too much to be happy for. the same applies for me, i'm too happy with my relationship situation right now and it doesnt have the effect it once did on me. He is happy with his family and doesn't need to express the emotions he had when he wrote Black.

Back in 00, there was plenty for him to be sad about. don't think i need to mention that here.

So my answer is NO, right now, it is not emotionally draining.
    It's all happening....

Interesting post..I always try to find early versions..i.e. 1991/1992 when the song was freshest to conception. I think the rawest really is MTV Unplugged..I have seen it almost every show I have been to..and never expect to...you'll know Eddie is really feeling the song when he ads a tag to it..there were some great ones in 2005/2006.

In the Rolling Stone article from 1993 Eddie says the song is very personal and hard to sing(at that time) and that is why no single or video for perhaps their best song (winner of the album game)

I saw them 3 nights in a row in new orleans in 93 & the crowd sang as loud as the band & he would let the crowd sing some & he would not sing one night he broke down crying singing black & said they would never play that fucking song again & the whole time singing blackj he was looking off to the side of the stage like it was directed at someone

I think after a certain age, it couldn't be that draining. There are more important things to sing about than missing another human being, once you get old. ;)
