Huge Toadies fan here. They are such a great live band, and they all are so down to Earth. They should be working on a new album now. Go see them at a smaller venue. I always appreciate the fact these guys play theater sized venues. Makes it just an amazing expierience. Seen them do the amptheater thing, and festival thing, but the small intimate theater shows just are on another league. They are very fan friendly, and usually sign stuff after the show, If they don't, you can usuually catch them out by the bus afterwords. Seeing Toadies and PJ play ACL on the same stage was just unbelieveable. It was a dream that finally came true. All the albums they have 4, are solid, but I may be biased. I highly encourage people to give post rubberneck stuff a chance.

Vaden Todd Lewis also had a band called Burden Brothers from late 2002- 2006. They also put on killer live shows and their albums are well worth checking out. I do believe alot of critics were harsh on reviews, towards their 2 records. Give them a chance, they really are great. They may be avail in stores, but I know they are avail on Itunes and http://www.kirtlandrecords.com

I couldn't agree more. Rubberneck is a killer album, but so is everything else they've put out. Especially Hell Below Stars Above, which is their best album by far I think. I've seen them live 5 times, 1 time on the HBSA tour and 4 since No Deliverance came out. Other than PJ they are honestly my favorite band to see live. It's just killer song after killer song... so much energy. I think I've met the band after each show I've been to. They're all super nice guys (and gal).

Hell I named my first son is named after a Toadies song. My wife made out a huge lists of boys names she liked and I went through and was like... no, no, no, no, no, no, no, hey that's an awesome Toadies song. My son's name is Tyler.

Here's an interesting story about the Toadies you might not know:

Lisa Umberger, the bassist for the toadies, bought her very first base with the $1000 she was paid to play an Ewok in the Return of the Jedi.

Did I mention the Toadies are fucking awesome?

The entire album is fucking solid. It's got an early-Pixies feel to it.

Lisa had a short stint in a few bands called silver lining and TILE. TILE played a show in Austin, TX about 2 years ago. I know this cause I found out about them via myspace.
Not sure if either of those bands are still together or have put out material.

Here is a link to one of their songs, not sure if the band is still together. Lisa also has a myspace page as well.

Other than that, not really sure what she has been up to.

Gotcha. I figured she'd end up doing something with some other bands but it would be nice to see her rock when the Toadies again.

Sadly enough, I don't think Lisa will ever rejoin the Toadies. From what I understand, there was alot of turmoil between VTL and Lisa, after she decided to split from the band. A recent article surfaced with Lisa's opinion on the whole thing since the Toadies reunited fully , upon their 2008 "No Deliverance" release. (wish I could find the article). Lisa was cool with Toadies reuniting, and understands she gave up her position to play in the band. It's more a personal matter of why VTL will not talk to her. The article said, and (I paraphrase): "That Lisa wishes they could regain a friendship." The other members of Toadies: Clark, and Mark Rez, still mantain contact with Lisa.

I personally have no desire to get involved in band's personal lives or business. I will say, that I have Met VTL about 15 times, and he has ALWAYS been beyond kind and gracious to me. He would see me hanging out before BB and Toadies shows, and then, I get hooked up with backstage passes. All the guys are down to earth, and super nice. I just cannot bring myself, to get involved in their personal lives. I just view it as unethical. I just respect band's private matters, which is why I have never personally asked. I know alot of people, even people who have ties to the music industry, want to see Lisa play with them again: just don't think it will ever happen. Bands change line ups, have fallen outs, it happens. As a fan, I respect each member of the band: past, and present, and wish them nothing but the best, musically and otherwise.

Yup, I totally agree. I've met Todd 5 different times over the years and he's been awesome each time. The only person in the band that I have met that was not super nice honestly was Lisa. But, it was near the end of her run and she probably just wasn't feeling it anymore. But she was still nice enough to sign my CD for me, so that's still going above and beyond in my opinion.

Just back on track of the Toadies in general though, it bugs me that anytime I talk about them or go to see them that my friends just kinda laugh at it. "Why not just turn on the radio and hear that I come from the water, or do you wanna die song?" 2 of their by far worst songs are still played every few hours on our big rock station in town here, it's just a shame that that's all most people know of them.

I had the pleasure of seeing them at the Majestic in Detroit some years ago.. I wasn't a fan before the show.. I have been a fan ever since.. and I still bring it up as one the best "converting" concerts I have ever been to

I took a friend with my last time I seen them, a few months ago, who only knew the 2 radio songs going into it. I ended up losing him in the crowd during the first song then when I found him after the show he was going crazy and was just amazed at how good it was. He went out and bought all of their CDs the next day.

saw the toads a few nights ago- again bad ass show. these guys never dissapoint. I was also excited to see a band called Descender opening. For you Burden Brothers fans, that's Casey and Zack's new band. Got their album "dark water" and it is awesome. going to pick up their first soon.

solid show as always- all bands signed stuff afterwords.

yeah- toadies kick ass studio or live. :P
