So, I don't actually own a record player or know anything at all about them. But I have a bunch of Pearl Jam records.

Can anyone recommend a decent record player? Looking to spend less than 300 bucks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I have a Sony 5.1 receiver with sub and surround sound. About 8 years old. Got it from Costco, nothing special...

Check the back of the reciever and see if it has a Phono input..If it doesnt you will want to get a turntable with a built-in amp...unless of course you want to buy an external pre-amp..Either way I have this one http://www.musicdirect.com/product/80563 ..Its a bit over 300 but well worth it ..

I just bought one last week for the same reason. I already had a spare reciever, just needed the turntable and speakers. This is what I decided to get...

    http://www.amazon.com/Sony-PS-LX250H-Au ... 664&sr=1-8

    $83.04

    I also bought some speakers...

    http://www.amazon.com/Sony-SSF-5000-Flo ... 782&sr=1-1

    $158.00

I wanted something inexpensive and simple and I couldn't be happier. The 1st song I played was Santa Cruz off the holiday 45 :D

    Good luck, enjoy!

  • I have that same problem, but after reading the following article made me want to save up a little more money so i can buy a good one that would not destroy my special PJ records.

I actually wanted to find companies that handled vynil digitizing services so i would not have to buy a turntable myself, but unfortunately none of the ones i found handle 24 bit audio.

    Hope this helps

I heard buying a cheap one can damage or ruin your vinyl records. Do you think there is any truth in this or is this all just a big attempt to get people to spend more $$$?
