inside job...one of the greastest pj songs ever

vedder89vedder89 Posts: 177
in my opinion, inside job is one of the greatest pearl jam songs ever written.

the way the song starts out slow and gradually builds up is mind blowing.

the lyrics i think are genius. they way they talk about individuality and being your own person and how "life comes from within your heart and desire"...how you choose to live your life is your choice and you have to want to live your life. you have to want to live.

mike and eddie really came together creatively here.
i wish they played this song more live

any others who feel the same?

  • Yes I would say so. I have read posts before where people say they feel the lyrics are cheesy and I would have to disagree particularly compared to songs on Backspacer. I really like this song.

The Newark 2010 version really woke me up to this song, it was rainy day in Newark, a city with great poverty, in the shadow of the rich NYC, something special about that performance.

it's up there with Present Tense as a phenomenal lyrical performance focused on the concepts of hope, and the wellspring of positivity that's inside us all.

I love Inside Job, but I don't come back to it as often as I wanted. I can't stop listening to it when it appears in my Itunes player, i HAVE to listen to it completely, and I always feel it's an amazing song, one of the very best of the Avocado album.

I think Mike is a genius composer, take Given to Fly for example, what I think one of the most complex songs in the PJ catalogue, both in music and lyrics.

Chills! It's a reminds me that each of these guys individually... are crazy talented writers. This is why they are "Pearl Jam"...and that's why we are in the midst of PJ20. I'm so proud to have been along for the ride! Great song indeed!

Any one of these five guys can write an amazing song...at any time. That's why they are amongst the elite.

I hear you man. Great song. I Put this one in the same category as "Love Boat Captain". It has a couple of, sort of cheesy lyrics and everybody runs to the exits. What they miss are two awesomely beautiful songs full of hope and inspiration. Hearing it live and watching it on the ATL Texas tv show makes me appreciate it even more of course.
