Indeed.. the only one with any money is Mani I think... done well with Primal Scream. Ian Brown split up with his wife and there was a messy and expensive divorce...apparently.

Why not though? Everyone else does it! Just hope it doesn't become a Musical embarrassment, Brown is always a bit hit and miss with his singing. Seen him live maybe 6 times and 3 of those he was awful....

Peter Hook (Joy Division) just confirmed it on the radio... having spoken to Mani.. reportedly.

This is HUGE in Britain absolutely HUGE. :D

absolutely! If I were in those shoes I would.... its also the joys of bands disbanding through "musical differences" - they can always reform if the mood takes them. its much harder if one of the band members is dead, you know :D

I think this says it all....

........"Brown also said the band decided to finally reform because "at times like this you can uplift people" and they would carry on "until the wheels fall off". Meanwhile, Mani said the reunion was a "suck it and see thing", while Reni revealed he "would be happy with 12 months".

    Its gonna be interesting!!

That album is quite amazing. Not the "greatest British album of all time" but pretty fucking great.

Mikee, I thought British people liked to describe themselves as English, Scottish or Welsh? Just curious. :geek:

Well, I am British. Born in England. This makes me English too. If you were to ask me "where are you from?" I would say "England" My nationality is British.

Hope that clears it up for you :D

So is it like, "I'm American" instead of "I'm Pennsylvanian?" Guess I thought Wales/England/Scotland were more like countries than states.

They are indeed countries, but my nationality is British. England, Scotland, Wales are (politically) all part of Great Britain. Along with Northern Ireland they make up The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. They are countries in their own rights, but share a common, official, nationality of British.

Wowza. I heard it here first!

Ian Brown has been swearing blind for a good few years that he would rather set himself alight than be in John Squire's company again. Meanwhile Squire has been painting and saying that music is a "young man's game"

This is going to be beyond huge. Every time I go to a wedding of my 30 something friends, all the men start hugging each other and grinning madly when the Roses play out over the dance floor. It's a buzz. The whole country's been depressed since round about the time One Love was released. This is going to be epic - whatever happens!!

I'm guessing they're a bit skint at the moment.

  • There was a time and a place for the Stone Roses... this is going to be awful, have you heard Ian Brown try and "sing" recently? I can't believe this has actually happened. I hope they don't piss all over the great memories I have of them from the 90s, I wish they had left it alone.

    Give them a chance!!

I have seen Brown live 6 times in the last ten years.. he was awesome in half of them... the other half well, that's where the doubts come from.. but they deserve at least a chance to show what they can do.

Ian Brown has a history of terrible live vocals - I don't think that's changed with age. Have you heard some of the Stone Roses live bootlegs? godawful. He seems to pull it out well in the studio still (I love a lot of his solo work, including the last album). Live I think there's a one in five chance he'll sing in tune

I won't try and see any of these shows - but I'm really looking forward to watching it all unfold - even a car crash can be entertaining!

I got a ticket to the first show of the 3 shows in Manchester... :D

Only two things could ruin this...

    1) Pearl Jam announce a european tour at the same time

    2) Ian Brown lives up to the hype and sings out of tune for the whole thing.
