April 4, 1992, First and Turning Point:

04/04/92 – Concert Hall: Toronto, Ontario
set: Oceans, Even Flow, Why Go, Jeremy, Deep, Alive, Black, State of Love and Trust, Once, Porch, Breath, Happy Birthday, Leash
notes: During ‘Porch,’ Ed climbs up onto the balcony and starts working his way all the way around the venue on the edge of the balcony. About 3/4 of the way around, two security guards grab him and pull him off the edge. They don’t realize who he is, thinking he is a fan climbing. When they realize their error, they let him go. Ed stands on the edge of the balcony and then drops down onto the crowd below – quite a drop but they catch him! Then he “swims” to the stage, picks up the mic and says, “I can do … whatever the fuck I want!” ‘Happy Birthday’ is sung to Mike. Ed introduces Henry Rollins and someone (tour manager, Eric Johnson) looking and dressing very much like Henry comes on stage. “Henry” has a huge happy face drawn on his back with magic marker.

My first show was not till 2010.

The first time I heard Jeremy I was hooked. Being in the Army and in the South I did not get many opportunities to see PJ. With deployments, FTX and issues I developed with large crowds going to any concert was not on my list of things to do.

After getting help I finally decided to try and go. So one day while my brother was driving a radio station in Columbus (The Blitz) was having a call in contest to win tickets to see Pearl Jam. My brother said dud you should call in. I called and got straight through and was caller number 10 and won tickets. Yeah the seats sucked but they were free and I was very happy. Since then I have seen PJ 3 more times and Ed once. I have seen other shows as well.
    My butt itches!

Its funny you started this thread because last night I was thinking about the exact same subject. My first show was in November 1991 at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC, they opened for Red Hot Chili Peppers and Smashing Pumpkins. They put on a short, great set. The show that was my turning point - September 10, 1998 Madison Square Garden. Went with a friend, we were fans but not huge fans and we had seats behind the stage. They opened with Long Road and the rest is history, still the best show we have ever seen. After that, I've seen them about 20 more times. Greatest band in the world.

First show was Chicago in 2003. Saw a few more in the few years after that. Turning point show was DC 2008....heard 'Black' in person for the first time and that was it for me.
