I love Debbie Wasserman Schultz, so this came as a nice surprise. She is one of my favorite congress people. I just loved watching her debate with Kendrick Meek on the house floor.

    tax cuts for the rich over medicare cuts? this budget is a joke.

    Read it for yourself

    It isn't simply a tax cut for the rich, it is a lowered rate for everyone with the elimination of loop holes that the wealthy and large corporations exploit.

    did you read it? if you don't want to read it all, check out page 51

    So many people want to think we can continue on down this path like nothing will happen. I applaud him for taking a stand and making the tough choice. Too many politicians are simply looking to the next election and not looking at what will benefit the country as a whole...that line of thinking by all politicians, independant, republican, and democrat alike, has nearly bankrupted our federal government. The choices only get more expensive every year they are not made. I don't agree with everything in this proposal, but unfortunately because of reckless spending by all those in Washington, it is necessary to make tough procedural changes in order to sure up our house so that EVERYONE benefits.
    It simply isn't okay to borrow any more money, if you are okay with that you might as well burn the money in your wallet because if that trend continues that money won't be worth more than kindling.

    if you think wanting to eliminate the federal debt while creating economic growth while actually making medicare solvent makes you a dick I don't know what to tell you.

    where was paul ryan during the healthcare debate? oh, calling obama a socialist. is he getting the 6 trillion in cuts for his budget from medicare?

    Here’s what we do know. Ryan’s plan would:

    – Maintain the Bush tax cuts, and further, cut the top individual tax rate down to 25 percent from 35 percent;

    – Consolidate the current six tax brackets into some, unspecified, fewer number of brackets;

    – Keep overall revenue levels the same;

    – Pay for the enormous tax cut for the top by eliminating or curtailing some, unspecified, tax expenditures.

    Again, i ask you, did you read it?

    Revenue should stay the same, I cannot force my boss to give me a raise simply because I was irresponsible. Nor can I go to an employee who makes more money than me and say, hey, that isn't fair, give me some now.

    Why should the federal government be allowed to take more money to solve their problem with the money they have? i really wouldn't care about them raising taxes if they proved they could keep spending under control...
    Also, by simplifying the tax code you are going to actually get the taxes you are supposed to, not just reward those who have great tax lawyers with loopholes.
    the hope from this is to spur growth in the economy. without it the country will just die on the vine...you can only tax the same money for so long...and you certainly can only borrow for so long...
    how would you raise revenue? simply tax the rich more?
    So again I implore you to read it for yourself...just because it comes from someone with (R) after their name doesn't mean it wants to kill puppies and old people.

    I made the same point in a different thread. Taking more money, be it from the rich or middle class, will solve nothing. Habits and spending need change first.
