    I really hope Alice in Chains plays at PJ20 but I doubt that they would announce it before Pearl Jam does. I'm thinking it is a regular tour announcement for them.

    Not from the 10 Club! :lol: From another online source. I just doubt AIC's official website would make the announcement first.

    i have zero desire to see AIC at any point, so I really hope they don't play PJ20.

    at this point, they are just a glorified cover band.

    I'm with you. Cantrell wrote the songs and sang a good chunk of them too... but I feel like they are just "Alice in Chains" for the money. I saw Jerry Cantrell solo twice in a small club, once was in '98 I think, and the 2nd time was 3 or 4 years later. The first time was absolutely awesome. The 2nd time was pretty good until towards the end when he had a Layne wannabe sing lead on a couple of AIC songs (I'm pretty sure it's the guy who ended up being the "new" Layne in the new "Alice in Chains"). It was laughable at the time, but now it's the standard.

    yeah, I sorta don't think Alice in Chains is Alice in Chains without Layne Staley. It's like PJ without Ed or Aerosmith without Steven Tyler. sorry for that reference. ;)

    I honestly haven't paid attention to the new stuff/new album, but at the show I saw, the guy DID look, act, and sound like him. He even had a mop-top poofy haircut. :lol:

    I'm just not a big AIC fan to begin with. I've got a couple albums and I like the "hits," but just not that into them. And I think it's strange if they are one of the big bands on PJ20 since I don't think PJ has ever played a show with them since the early 90s maybe? It's just a little weird to me.

    All I'm gonna say........

    AIC = greatness

    If they were on the bill for PJ20, this would definitely increase my motiviation to go.

    That said, I am still guessing that their announcement won't having anything to do with PJ20.
  • First of all..Jerry wrote MOST of AIC's music, not Layne.

    Second...I am a LOOOOOONG time AIC fan and i have seen them 3 times in the past 2 years and EVERY show was AWESOME!!! Will does a great job as front man and does Layne proud!

    anyone who thinks they are doing it just for the $ or thinks they shouldn't call themselves AIC without Layne is a fool.

    Yeah, I'm not a huge fan either....Maybe that's why it doesn't bother me as much. His singing on the the new album doesn't sound like Layne and I'm pretty sure Layne wasn't the first person to have dreads. If anything, the new album showed me how much AIC is Jerry's band.

    For the record, I can totally understand people having their doubts, but in the end, to me it's JC's band. It's not as if they're do a disservice to AIC's legacy. It's probable if the music and live shows were just awful I'd feel different.

    Cantrell showed up and played RITFW at one of the LA shows in 09. It would make total sense to have any of the big 4 Seattle bands there. Especially since it's been said it's gonna be a "community" thing.
  • Yeah anyone who thinks that Layne = AIC obviously doesn't have a clue about them or their music.

    Now had Jerry died and Layne carried on with the name, then THAT would be a joke.
