What is the best and cheapest way to store posters besides framing them. I have a few I would like to get out of the tubes I received them in. Thanks for any advice.
before I framed all mine i had an old 42" LCD TV box that i used with lots of cardboard inserts and tissue papers used to seperate the posters, no wear and tear but was unable to view them when i wanted.. if you want to browse them, invest on ebay in a poster/art portfolio, cheap, but effective
Check out bagsunlimited.com. I bought two 27 x 40 hard plastic sleeve things from there years ago. Did the job for what I had. And I had a lot more than just PJ posters. I have a flat file now but I still have some other stuff still stored in one of them. I think they were somewhere around $25-$30 a piece if I remember correctly. It's been a few years since I've been on that part of the site though. I buy poly sleeve for all my vinyl there as well. The 4 mil stuff is great for vinyl.
I went to a frame shop at my mall and they gave me a huge cardboard folder and put the posters in that seperated by Acid free craft paper. Hey it keeps them flat. Do not keep them in the tubes
I use a science fair backboard. You open it up, lay the posters down and put an acid free sheet of craft paper in between each one - then close the two sides up. Very cheap and takes great care of the posters

Keep in mind that storing long term in anything corrugated can imprint the "waves" of corrugation onto the poster paper. ...foamboard or another perfectly flat surface is a bit safer, and has a smoother surface to not be abrasive against the surface of the poster.
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you.

at the minimum you need some sort of acid-free environment to store it. Most of my posters are stored in an acid-free archival storage box. The few that I have that are too large for that box are stored sandwiched between two acid-free pieces of foamcore. For the latter, I just bought two large pieces from americanframe years ago and kept the box they came in.
If you want to go crazy, the best it to buy a flat file and mylar sleeves for each print. Unfortunately, that is a bit out of my price range (though considering I married an architect, I am hoping to one day get a hand-me-down flat file from an office she works for).
You definitely don't want to be keeping it rolled in a tube for any extended period of time.

any suggestions as to what type of portfolio to buy? are the storage sheets "acid free"?
edit: holy shit, 44.99 for FIVE pages? wowowowowowowoow.can you go "back to back" in these sleeves?
I have to recommend these folders too. This store has coupons and sales all the time and this is by far the best protection you can get. I have two of these binders stuffed with pages and posters and I feel like I have nothing to worry about because the posters are perfectly safe.
