Interesting, yes...in the typical, glossed-over, war-mongering, mass-media-bullshit, sense.

If we read an account of the consequences of these doctrines from another source (say Chomsky), I bet we'd have much more negative associations with them than the article implies.

They are all simply generalized, glorified excuses for violence,repression, and expansion of American interests.

The Monroe Doctrine may have warned European forces to limit their expansionism in the Western hemisphere....but it was also used to expand American influence in South America, annex Hawaii, and justify genocide of the indigenous population in the western US....

All of these doctrines are dressed up variations of the REAL philosophy behind American Foreign Policy - Manifest Destiny.
