All the way from the Auditorium shows, 101.9 another station just played it too. I think it was night one I missed the intro. The DJ actually brought up good info by saying it debuted at teh VIC, quite impressed he knew that.
Yay cubbies and so glad to hear ed on the radio

So you're telling me the song we know as the "Chicaco Cubs Song" is actually an original written by Eddie Vedder?
I always thought this was some kind of folksy Cubs tune that's been around for years????
nope has only been around since the VIC show 2007
apparently, eddie was talking to ernie banks when he was at cubs fantasy camp (i think) and the conversation got around to ernie telling eddie he should write a song about wrigley field that embodied the spirit of the field and the cubs and the cubs fans

it's few and far between that they play anything PJ or eddie and even more rare to hear anything not off ten when a new album hasnt just been released

Listening to this station online, and it plays some pretty good tunes.
PJ love today from them, as they are now playing Aaron Lewis' cover of Black...still not sure what to think of it, but as is said imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
I don't understand this. People payed $90 to go to the show. There were no posted rules. IT'S A CONCERT. More respect??
Exactly! I actually paid more than $90 for the 2nd night. So why would I want to & why should I have to listen to attention-craving idiots who are screaming and yelling stuff while the entertainment I paid for is trying to perform?
There were a lot more of the idiotic & selfish people in need of attention the 2nd Night than there were on the first night.
It's like not talking during a fucking movie: it isn't necessarily a "posted rule," but a suggestion - a reminder of common sense for those who lack it.
It makes much more sense to shut the fuck up while you're trying to watch a movie, or listen to an acoustic concert for that matter.

It said "Life is nothing but a dream."
I've spent so many years in question
To find I'd known this all along.
I'm a Dodgers fan.....but, that's just AWESOME!!! I can imagine stations around here going nuts if Eddie had written a song for us as a fan...too cool.
ps. I feel like a step-son of Chicago after Lolla last year, my first visit. I fell IN LOVE with the city. Someday Ill come back, and do my best to experience the magic spread all over in the ivy.
Are we positive this song was written for the Cubs?
It sure sounds like Ed has a listening device in my new girlfriend’s apartment.
Not sure if your being sarcastic or not, lol..but um,
Yep, 110% sure! He told the story at the Chicago Shows ( i think it was night 1) where he met Ernie Banks and Banks said the cubs needed a song...and basically asked him to write one.
I was at both nights, and at Night 2 the crowd sang an extra "someday we'll go all the way" in the first chorus break, and I don't hear that in this version that they released.

Some people just don't get it. You, good sir, are one of those people.
Maybe all I need is a shot in the arm....
So you're telling me the song we know as the "Chicaco Cubs Song" is actually an original written by Eddie Vedder?

the person sitting next to you paid $90 as well, to hear EV, not you.

correct.
the story he tells about the song was entertaining. if they do a chicago boot, the thursday show is excellent in this regard.

its now listed as being played at 7:11. funny how that is the official start time for the white sox when they play home night games.
based on the fact that it was played around 3, then just after 5, then just after 7, i suspect it will be plain just after 9....oh no....
PJ love today from them, as they are now playing Aaron Lewis' cover of Black...still not sure what to think of it, but as is said imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
