My least favorite album but I'm not gonna knock people who love it.
And I don't want your harmless threads locked up again, Hush.
Stone only has 3 major songwriting contributions on the album, which were Bushleaguer, All or None(riff of Anchors from Bayleaf) and Save You(full band effort). Maybe that's the reason why I don't favor it as much as the other records. More Stone songs would have been nice.
I just listened to RA yesterday while following along with reading lyrics, which I never do. I have a lot more appreciation for the songs when you know all the lyrics. I am liking it more and more, but still not the best album (VS). Way better than Binaural, but the more you listen to them the more they grow on you. I heard most of the songs on the 03 boots which I love. Bought the album when it came out but never gave it much of a chance.

all or none has the same riff of a bayleaf song? well now i gotta go out and buy bayleaf cds then! all or none is such an amazing song..

My mistake...it's actually Anchors not Fits. Just listened the record again.
Yeah you should definitely grab it, I like a lot of the mellow tracks on it more than the uptempo ones.
The obscure songs on Vitalogy could never be classed as fillers, also Yield is far from my fav PJ album but dont think there are to many fillers on it
Several things.
First, I wouldn't consider any of the songs you listed as filler, especially because two of them are two of my favorite Pearl Jam songs overall.
Second, the obscure songs on Vitalogy are exactly how filler is classified.
Third, songs on Yield that I consider filler: Push Me, Pull Me, Untitled.
Fourth, there is no reason to be hostile or condescending and tell me to "think harder" in order to reach your opinion on what songs you think are filler, or not. Clearly we have different taste. Take it easy.

Firstly i apologies for the "think harder" line, it wasn't meant like it read and def not hostile.
Right now back to the argument ~~~~ ha ha
No 1:cant argue with your opinion, but them four from RA are half hearted to say the lease.
No 2:them songs on Vitalogy are classed has experiments and not fillers
No3:Push me pull me is quite high up on my fav list, so again all down to opinion i guess, untitled is another experiment
Were are you other three ponts ????
1:Black 2:Corduroy 3:All Those Yesterdays 4:I Got ID 5:Smile

LOL, you may not like those 4 songs you mentioned from RA, but NO WAY are they filler songs. 1/2 Full and Ghost are actually personal favorates of mine. Your way of classifying filler is unusual to say the least.
And if Aye Davinita and Pry, To aren't filler songs, then I don't know what is. I think even the guys from TOOL would be proud.

i have always classed a filler to be a proper full lenght song that isn't has good has everything else.
Aye Davinita & Pye to are just something in the middle

maybe to you thats what filler is, but to the rest of us it's a song thats just there to be there.. like push me pull me, untitled, pry to, foxy mop, etc.. and while i personally love them all, i gotta say theyre not really songs. to me, there are no filler songs, just as you said, experiments and different ways to set the mood of the album etc, but that's just my take i personally am in love with 1/2 full and it made my day when i heard it for the first time live at msg1 and i dont think any song pearl jam puts out there is a bad song, just different and may not be my taste. i used to LOAAAAAAAAATHE help help but i found a new... like for it. same with sweet lew and other jeff songs. though i still don't like evacuation, but is that a bad song? no, just not my taste
Then after 129 more full album listenings, 1/2 full is quite the Stand Out, or, It stands out as full as the rest of them.
Especially that first song! That was a sneaker-upper.
Actually, for the first 35 album listenings, outside of "I am Mine" and "Love Boat Captain", I didn't know there were other songs on the album.
That's what I thought Pearl Jam was all about--an ACQUIRED TASTE indeed!
Those songs freaking grow on you. When I first got the MSG live DVD, I knew strictly the TEN hits. Yeah, imagine that.
I could not hear ANYTHING in those other songs. Bunch of noise. Did I type that out loud?
NOW?--HOLY SHITOLA--Cropduster, Save You, Love Boat Captain, I am Mine.
Each time I listen to Riot Act or watch MSG, I get more Holy Shitted by the songs.
Even Bushleaguer, I thought at first was ho-humish. 140 listenings later--what a superb song.
Kind of like 1/2 full.
Of Holy Shit!
Only 1/2 full.
Good, I've got some mileage left.
On another point, I listened for the first time to No Code the other day..(I KNOW)..Almost all those songs are instantly likeable. Very good! But instantly likeable.
I think that, by contrast, Riot Act has some SERIOUS depth to it.
The best way I like to listen to PJ is to put the disk in, don't check the lyrics, don't check the song names.
I had Yield in my car CD player for MONTHS. Straight.
I thought Do the Evolution was the most Obnoxious song alive.
1,079 playings later, there is no better song in the world to dance the fastest too. Actually, if you think of the "She's a maniac....MAAAniac on the floor" video those feet with the leg-warmers. Doing that keeps good time with the song. Gives ya a near heart attack though.
I just listened to RA yesterday while following along with reading lyrics, which I never do. I have a lot more appreciation for the songs when you know all the lyrics.
so, so true
i've been doing that a lot lately
when you look at the lyrics, the words just jump out at you as they're being sung- they have to much more meaning!
and Riot Act is a great album & very under-appreciated!!
i dunno what the point of this thread is but GO RIOT ACT! it is such a kickass/under-appreciated album!
I cannot understand WHY THE FUCK people knock this album!! It is a fine album, and the songs are gr8 live, so why less love for this than the others? I get sick of the Riot Act bashing that goes on, any decent PJ fan wouldn't bash this album, imo. I haven't read the comments above mine, so I don't know what everyone's saying about it on this particular thread, but I love these songs and want to hear more of them live when PJ tour Australia again.

I can't think of any.
If we want to look at fillers there are certainly more on Yield and Vitalogy.
ghost
get right

half full
you need to think a little bit harder.
