If it weren't for that damn Yield album I might say that Riot Act if their smartest album. It's dark, sad, emotional, and confusing. Let's remember how our nation was at that time... I think a lot of people don't understand Riot Act because I don' t think the band itself really understood how to make a record in those times. What they created echoed a lot of our thoughts and fears. It's six, musical geniuses trying to speak through music at a time when no one really knew what to say. To me, it's further proof that Mr. Vedder is not only one of the greatest musicians of our time, but one of the greatest writers period. THe lyrics for Can't Keep, and LBC are pure poetry. Gut wrenching poetry.
ok but what about when he pleads "won't someone save the world?" at the end of half full? that, to me, is gut wrenching. and all or none especially "to myself i surrender to the one i'll never please". oh goodness don't get me started on this album i'll be here all day and its too late at night for it
