To those on the left:

If bombing Iraq was wrong, how exactly is what's going on in Libya right? Is it because the sitting President has a D next to his name?

To those on the right:

If bombing Iraq was right, how exactly is what's going on in Libya wrong? Is it because the sitting President had a R next to his name?

(Let's try to keep this to a two sentence constraint)

    I'm not going to go into a huge debate about rightness and wrongness of the two. They are apples and oranges as already mentioned though.

    The U.S. invaded Iraq on false "beliefs" about weapons of mass destruction and supposed ties to Al Qaeda. We didn't rush in to save the Kurds when they were massacred which may have made your comparison a bit more apples to apples. Iraq (round 2) was supposed to be about defending us against a threat. Libya is supposed to be about us defending civilians from a military aiming to stop a popular rebellion.

    we are pretty much wiping our hands clean of Libya in a few days, correct? We are still stuck with Iraq..


    also, we bombed Iraq because they had "WMDs". We bombed Libya because the UN wants to keep this guy from slaughtering his own people. They aren't looking to over throw this guy, just keep him from bombing the fuck out of them...


    The reasons and our involvement is quite different, but the oil is the same. 8-)
