Maybe I'm feeling a little sentimental, but I seriously think Pearl Jam fans are by far the most dedicated, passionate fans of any band I listen to. I could be a bit bias because they are my all time favorite band but I have never seen anything like it. I know there are other bands out there that have a huge fan base (Kiss or Dead fans perhaps?) I don't know but my point its really something else. They've been a band for what 21 years and we have been all been following them (well a good portion of us) have been following their every move since we all had our "first" pearl jam experience. It blows my mind, even the forum is something all in its own. I mean its like a family, whether it be everyone lending support to a fellow fan or brutal arguments because we are all protective to think someone may be the bigger fan, or criticize those who aren't living up to the standard of what a "pj" fan should be, etc. The love/connection we all feel when we are at a show and it just feels so "homey" or comfortable, almost like we are all in this little room just rocking out with this band we all love. I don't know maybe I am just being a little philosophical but I know for me personally, I have never experienced anything like it before. I love all types of music and all sorts of bands but nothing will ever top it for me, that feeling I get a show, or how excited I feel to hear their new albums, to hear tour dates, etc. It's something I've heard since I was 11, that I will "grow out of it" and I can honestly say it's a passion for music that only gets stronger. I just think the connection we all have because of the love of this band/music - its really pretty awesome. :geek:
