Hi
I just switched from a PC to Mac and when I go to play Pearl Jam Radio on this site I get a message that there is a "Missing Plug-In", and I can't listen to it. Any help/suggestions to get the plug-in or otherwise make it work? Thanks

Sane Mary may be the best name I've found on this website yet. Very neat.

When it comes up with the error, does it tell you specifically what plug in is missing? Sometimes a pop up will come up prompting you to download the plug-in, but if you have a pop up blocker it won't be able to do that.

If you try that and it still doesn't work, I would suggest looking to see if your Adobe flash player and your java runtime environment is up to date. You can test to make sure you are up to date at http://www.flashtester.org/ and http://javatester.org/ respectively.

If none of these suggestions work, it may be worth your while to take your computer to a local tech shop to get it tuned up. Maybe PJ Radio isn't the only program which isn't operating correctly for you.

    Hope this helps!

Are you using Safari or a different web browser?

    Assuming you're using Safari :
PJ radio via this site is working fine with Safari, without any extra plug-in. I suggest you check if you have the latest version of Safari, which I assume you do since I reckon you just got a new mac. In which case, I suggest you restart it. Might be enough. A friend of mine just got his new mac a couple months ago and some sites were not operating correctly with Safari, saying a plug-in was missing without saying which one it was. After having tried to figure out what it could be, we restarted it. It all works fine now ...

PJ Radio works fine on both my G5 tower and Macbook Pro laptop both of which are about 3 years old. I had a problem with listening to BBC radio and that was the flash player.

Might be worth trying the Adobe site.

Thanks all. I am using Safari on a new desktop system and still can't listen to pj radio through the site. If by restart you mean rebooting, yes I have done that many times without success. Odd because it works fine on my macbook pro and both have the updated safari. It must be some kind of setting, but I can't figure it out. Thanks for the tips and I welcome others.

It would be the Flash plugin. Can you see flash content on other sites (http://www.mono-1.com/monoface/main.html for example)? If not, you need to enable it by going to Preferences > Security > Enable plug-ins. If that still doesn't work you could try downloading the latest version of Flash player at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/?promoid=BUIGP.
I smile, but who am I kidding...

It was that simple. Thanks a lot!

Yep, you'll need the Flash plug-in to listen to Pearl Jam Radio from a browser.

New Macs are no longer shipping with Flash pre-installed, so you'll have to grab it from Adobe's site.
