First time poster!!! Need some love/good vibes only PJ fans can give!

Hey guys, First-timer here, though I've been lurking for a while. Like most all of you, Pearl Jam has had an immesurable impact on my life, so I won't go into details. Saw my first concert at Lolla this past year and it blew me away!!! Anyway, that's not why I'm posting. I don't want to get too personal as this is my first post, but I'm in a little bit of a conundrum. My girlfriend, whom I love very much is leaving to study abroad in Switzerland for a semester. Oh, btw, I'm in North Carolina. We have both agreed to stick it out however much it sucks, but to be honest I"m a little scared. There's just a lot of anxiety and fear that goes along with a long, far separation. I was wondering if any of you all have had similar experiences and how/if you've dealt with them successfully. I don't want to get too personal by asking this, but from what i've read on other threads, you guys do really lend a helping hand to those who seek it. Oh, and are there any PJ songs that have helped you get through tough times? My first thought was Given to Fly or Down, but i guess there are so many. I'm sorry if this was a little long-winded, but I just wanted to say hey, I'm so glad to be here and any help would go a long way.

If you thought Lolla was good, holy shit we have a lot to teach you young PJedi. It was a good show yes, but you have a lot of great shows to hear.

PJedi was a damn good idea though.

i wen't thru something similar but i was the one that left for about a yr to live in florida, not another country pj didn't exist then but anyway it was tough no doubt we were engaged at the time 16yrs later happily married to the same girl i was away from. if you truly believe as she does also that you are ment to be with each other you will make it thru ...it is weird though when you get back together it takes a bit of adjusment from both people ...good luck...

I don't think PJ has good "Let's have a long distance relationship" songs. However, off the top of my head pop singles from the 70s are just loaded with that you-me-everywhere type stuff. The songs are so hokey, if you burned a CD of them that you sent to express your feelings to your girlfriend, then both of you would end up laughing laughing laughing in different time zones no less. In fact, if you time it right, you could be laughing at the same time space, but in different time calibration. Aha! Now that's interesting.

i went through the same thing this past summer. my gf went to italy to study for 2 1/2 months. It sucked, no lie. But the bottom line is that these are the types of situations that you need to go through to build a relationship. I regret those months because the whole time i was worried that something would happened while she was over there. But, nothing did, and when she came back we were even closer. It's just one of those things you have to go through bro, it will make you much stronger. Just let her have her time over there, and use the time to rediscover yourself. Worry about staying busy and being creative and having fun and such and not about her, before you know it she'll be back. Down is a great song to get through tough times. Best of luck, i spent many of those long summer nights in the pit so remember it is always here like pj's music.
