Interesting show at Stubbs last night. The majority of the crowd was there to see Panic at the Disco and/or The Bravery, which means the average crowd age was very young. You could pick out the Tres Mts. fans by just scanning the crowd and looking for anyone old enough to drink. With that said, Tres Mts. was playing to a large crowd who didn't know who they were, and didn't really seem to care to find out. The band played a good, short and energetic set, but was plagued by some stage monitor audio issues. Jeff and dUg were visibly annoyed by the audio problems, with Jeff spending half of one song trying to explain his monitor needs to the sound guy at the side of the stage. The band did not get a soundcheck prior to hitting the stage. Mike's solos and energy stole the show and he played it up the Tres Mts. fans in the audience. He was throwing out guitar picks and stickers to the crowd during every song. Mike's energy was contagious and kept us hopping the entire show. Richard was a beast on drums. Jeff did his thing on bass, good grooves. I had a blast watching this performance. I do think that Tres Mts. would have enjoyed their set more if they were playing to a crowd that was more suitable to their musical style, with less audio problems. This showcase lineup at Stubbs was wrong for Tres Mts.

It was great meeting all the PJ fans during and after the show (Rob and Mark!) A few of us had the opportunity to meet and chat with Mike and Jeff after the show. Mike is standup guy who took the time to tell a few old PJ stories. We also chatted about kids and shared dad stories. This was a great finish to a killer night! Thanks for show guys, come back to Austin soon!

    Mike
