Philly area people....

I know this is not PJ related but most of the people on this board are hanging out in the Porch so im posting it here as well as AET.....

hoping to get some info from some of you please.....I will be in philly with friends for a weekend in October and we usually stay at the Holiday INN Stadium because it is close to The wachovia center and Lincoln Financial field but it is pretty pricey over there.We are looking to see if there is any other hotels in the area that are not as expensive but still a decent hotel and in a nice area. we have come across the Econolodge on Penrose ave & Packer ave.....anybody have any feedback on this or other suggestions?

    That area is dead. If I were coming into Philly, I would stay downtown, probably not exactly cheap, but are you going to the "Sports Complex" area for something, or are you coming to Philly to hang out? Because that is ghost town area...
    Downtown, there are tons of GREAT Reastaurants, Bars, Shops, Clubs, etc. Very cool city if you know where to go, but that also depends on what you are TRYING to do...and your interests, of course.

    How much are you looking to spend on a Hotel? Check out Hotels.com to find a good price/ location. The "Hot" spots in the City are Rittenhouse Square, Old City (2nd and Market area), and the good Bars are in Northern Liberties. I can send you links to some specific locales. But for your research purposes, there are some good Bars for Live music, Good Craft Beer, etc.

    Flyers? Are you a Leafs Fan??? If so, don't answer. Yeah, you are probably better off going down to the Sports Complex area. You are already spending a ton of money at those events.

    Nope,hate the Leafs,diehard Flyers fan!!!! we try to go to philly every year...we have always stayed at the Holiday Inn Stadium but its a bit pricey.

    HAHA! SWEET!!!!!!Well, hotels.com has always been a big help for me...but as far as drinking goes, I gave you a scoop there...GO FLYERS! GO BIRDS!
