Why haven't I heard of one being scheduled yet? Where are all the celebs and musicians right now?

I think Japan being the country it is fewer people are inclined to jump in right away compared to if it were a third world country.

I've donated to Canadian Red Cross
and will be donating today at school...

..i also want to look into ways I can help in the long run. Unfortunately once the novelty of a disaster wears off people tend to forget about it.

i think people are disastered out to be quite honest ... it seems we've gone from one to another ...

haiti to chile to turkey ... flooding in Australia ... earthquakes in New Zealand and now Japan ... these are the ones that have made major news ... there have been at least a dozen more throughout the world that has resulted in significant loss of life, population displacement and has required aid ...

    Yeah, i totally agree.
I donated to chile and haiti, by the time christchurch came around i never acted quickly to donate, as horrible as that sounds.

with Japan it obviously hits close to home with me, so i feel it's my obligation to help and i have gladly broke my budget (i'm so broke right now its not even funny) to help out in any way i can, even if its only 50 dollars here and there.

You should be proud of yourself. I wish there were more people like you in this World. God Bless you.

Like I said ^ i feel obligated given the circumstances.
i have been planning on going back to Japan hopefully when i finally move there i can use my time for helping out in any way i can. its difficult to explain how you see a disaster differently when you have deep roots in that country... not that any one disaster takes priority before another but its a strange feeling of obligation and deep sorrow when you see the country you were born in suffer.

I hear you. Christchurch is my hometown, so naturally I followed the news from back home very closely. Now the news from Japan dominates the news from Christchurch - in the New Zealand newspapers. We don't have time to fully process one before the next one comes along.
And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.

Hey, at least you folks are acknowledging this disaster- and thank you for those who are helping. On another (I won't name it) favorite music fan site I regularly post to, I'm the only one so far to even mention the word "Japan". Talk about denial...or not caring.

But I know there would be compassion here at Ten Club. Thank you.

That's because most of Justin Bieber's fans aren't old enough to understand the magnitude of what's happening there...

    (I kid!)

Seriously though, I think AMT is the coolest part about the whole site. It's probably the best site I've seen for discussions about the world at large. It's a nice community to be a part of :)

  • I think despite the magnitude of the disaster, the Japanese are handling it in a very dignified manner. It's great to see such poise in this world we live in.

Here's a really sweet/sad link posted by a friend over on Man Without Ties (Paul Westerberg site) where folks have been showing nice support for Japan and the idea of people all over working together:
