Below are some comments posted by your/our fellow Americans.

I see people saying Obama is doing the right thing!!!! The idiot isn't doing anything. That cannot possibly be the right thing. Come on people, take a look at reality. Take off the rose colored glasses and see the Idiot Pres for what he is. Worthless.

Ronaldo

Let him go on vacation, we don't need him he'll just screw it up.

for all you idiots that voted for this guy, well here you go!!!!!! And i hope you don't vote for him again. where's Reagan when we need him?

This guy is still an empty suit. Maybe this will teach all the people in this country that think they are genius's that they should probably just stick to bidding on Ebay vs. messing our country up with their absence common sense voting. This is George Bush "Do you miss me yet?"

What a worthless president.

This embarasement has got to go. He has been on his own agenda since he took office. He is a true scum bag. 2012!!!!

It's apparent to Obama that Japan is in dire need of healthcare.

His lack of experience is painfully obvious.

November 2012...

Geez, this guy is a sick idiot - fleeing his post when it is needed most. This joker shouldn't even win 1 state in 2012. People please rememeber how aweful he was when next time to vote comes. He used to at least seem to have some fire in him, and could charge up a crowd, etc. Now, he no longer seems to even care, even about liberal issues.

All this jerk wants to do is fly all over the world in AF ONE.
He is an empty suit with NO leadership experience..NONE!
I am counting the days until he is unemployed.....Thank you JERKS that voted for this worthless t u r d

They wanted to crucify Bush when Katrina went throught.
What has happened in Japan IS A CATOSTROPHY!!!!.... NOT....'COULD BE' a catostrophy...These good people have been destroyed by the THOUSANDS and whole villages have been wiped off the face of the earth. They are freezing and starving over there 'Mr. President'. Could you not show a little respect and compassion? Instead you are going to Rio de Janeiro???? People are losing their jobs and homes here, that is if they are not Bank and Automobil mogels you want to subsidize.
What kind of a man are you? Are you a man? Obama, you make me sick. Go to Latin America and stay because we are better off without you.

He's a very weak president, on all fronts. Of course, his "puppet-master" is gone as speaker of the house.

NO-bama in 2012.

He is a complete joke and a true embarrassment to America.

So, he's off to Rio, another vacation at our expence, is the ol lady going along with the kids? How many planes are we paying for this time t with our taxes? I wish I had a job where I could go on vaction all the time! Hell, I'm retired and I can't afford that. I need tax payer money so I can go places too, maybe bring a few friends, my family, I can invite Opra!! What a life!!! Lets dump this looser who acts like a welfare recipient who's been given the keys to the kingdome so he and his wife can play till the bottom drops out on all of us!

we should all show up in DC on friday to protest this pile of dung that sits in office.

26% approval rating for Harper? Ouch. I have no problem with the criticism of Obama, and I will criticize him myself; however, what I cannot stand is the absolute idiotic level of discourse in this nation. People run their mouths as if they have any clue as to what is going on. It amazes me and saddens me at the same time. I wish I knew everything; I wish I was right all of the time.

If ignorance is bliss, then idiocy must be paradise. I am guessing that 80% of U.S. citizens live in a self-constructed, delusional paradise.

And you know what else about the Government of Canada ?
When they want something from you or have information for you that they want you to have, they're on your doorstep in a heart beat. But when you need information from them or for them to initiate a request for you, they say they'll give you a call back at the end of two business days. If they don't, call them back. Then when you (which I just actually did) call them back on the third day, I was told by the agent that he only has the authority to up the sense of urgency for someone to look into the matter. Again, if I don't receive a call back within two business days, to call them back again and the urgency will be upgraded.

Ya, right ... it's now the Harper government. What a fuckin' tool this guy is. It all needs to crumble man. Destroy all belief systems and start the fuck over. Jesus Christ ... what a joke!

You know, I've dealt with WCB of Alberta (Workman's Compensation). There is no difference in the way WCB & the 'Harper' government run things. They are one entity. I'm not saying this out of spite. I'm saying this from experience. They are both run by oil. It's all run by oil. Makes me puke. And I'm suppose to bring children into this world ?

Don't get too excited, every election is the same. The urban centres can't compete with the rural constituencies who watch Harper go to church every Sunday with his sweater vest and eat it all up.

I think the biggest problem is getting someone likeable to run against him, I'm not that big a fan of Ignatieff either. He has the fakest political smile i've ever seen.

I think the "Comments" section for online articles is actually a sociology experiment to see how humans act when under the guise of anonymity. If not, I don't understand why most news services make them available.

i don't understand that either. many of them end up getting deleted due to low ratings anyway. as if someone's comment is going to sway the reader's interpretation of the information presented in the article.

i know in my local paper people comment and sometimes the people involved in the incident in the article get involved with an argument with people via the comments medium. if you are accused of a crime or something it is probably not in your best interest to be arguing with strangers for the whole world, including attorneys and potential jurors, to see.

    That DOES look painful!!
And it's so true, the problem of voting ABC (Anyone But Conservative!) is that the rest of the votes are split 3 ways. I know this bible-thumper who is so pro-conservative she's almost brought to tears if you say anything about her precious Harper. She actually changed her facebook relationship status to 'In a relationship with: house 'o commons' Anyways, when Harper won the last one, she was going on about how "Canada has spoken"... More like, 50% of Canada even VOTED, and like 50% of that voted conservative. So really only a quarter of Canada has spoken 8-)

  • There are some extremist comments on those boards from the left and right. It's not limited to one side.

I sometimes wonder if those comments are authentic. I mean, they could be reporting on the most mundane topic and there are thousands of completely weird responses.

Last poll I saw had him at 32 %, we have 5 federal political parties that get at least 5 % of the vote in elections, so no one political leader will ever garner a whopping lead in support. As of now the conservatives are on the borderline of support for a small majority if an election was called soon.

Why would you want an election? They cost 300 million and you'll get the same results or a Harper majority. The only way things will change is if both the liberals and conservatives replace their leaders, and I doubt the conservatives will as long as Harper delivers at least a minority.

I also doubt we will see a majority parliament any time soon, we have 5 political parties that get at least 5 % of the vote.

No point in an election, results will probably be the same.

I highly doubt the average Canadian cares about all this political BS that been happening the last week about contempt of parliament and all the other bullshit going, you would think Layton and Iggy would figure that out, they throw this stuff out there at Harper and none of it sticks.

I'm sure most people are concerned about keeping their jobs, paying their bills, putting food on the table, etc..

I'm not a fan of Harper, but I'll take him over Iggy who lived in the States and the UK for much of his life.

I'm just taking an educated guess here, but I think the reason people have quit voting is they know they are just going to be lied to, so most people are at the point of why bother. All I have to look at is what been happening in Ontario since the late 80's, maybe longer just don't remember.

I don't ever seeing the day coming when 1 party gets over 50% of the votes because we have 5 parties now getting over 5% of the vote. The conservatives are benefitting from vote splitting much the same way the liberals benefitted in the 90's.

I almost think for things to change the three major federal parties need leadership change, the only party I see making a change is the liberals. I have read that Bob Rae has the inside track :lol:, which would probably lead to the same old.

I'm no Harper fan, even more disappointed that we sent 6 jets to libya. But our choices are not great.

Very true... the current 3 federal leaders (that can be PM) are not very inspiring imo. I would like to see all 3 of those parties change leadership, but with fresh face's...not likely to happen though

I'm no Harper fan, even more disappointed that we sent 6 jets to libya. But our choices are not great.
True! I've always maintained that in elections we don't vote for who we think is best, we vote who we think is the least worst...

Very true... the current 3 federal leaders (that can be PM) are not very inspiring imo. I would like to see all 3 of those parties change leadership, but with fresh face's...not likely to happen though

Personally I think that Jack Layton is the most likeable of the 4 leaders, and would make a good PM. The problem is the NDP will never gain control of the government.

Turn off the boob tube and educate yourselves.

29% of Americans couldn't name the current Vice President when Newsweek administered the citizenship test to them. 6% didn't know when Independence Day was. 38% failed the test altogether (I think that means 2/5 of Americans aren't qualified to be American  ).

    And these people vote...
And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.

I don't watch it... no room on my DVR, what with all of the episodes of the various Real Housewives I have saved on there.
