You know, when she was murdered, I had a heavy heart for day's, still hard to hear her speak or read stories about her, how sad the American government did nothing. We saw almost nothing of her on the media networks and when some people would talk about her, they would say things like "she stood in front of a bulldozer, what did she think would happen"

    But they do not understand,

Yes, she stood on the side of the oppressed, spoke the truth, and died for it.

you know, what did she expect is a thought i have often when thinking about rachel corrie. was she naive to think the driver would stop because if he didnt there was a good chance someone would be hurt? nope. i am not rachel, but i would think because its what she probably wouldve done, she expected nothing less from another. and it got her killed.

it is extremely sad and rather pathetic that her own government did nothing... but what did we expect?

Which perhaps brings us to, what can be done now...?

It kind of amazes me that it's been 8 years since she was killed. It reminds me of a time when I still felt as passionately as she did. I wasn't much older than her then. I'm sad to say that my heart has been hardened since then. Was what she did heroic? I can't honestly say that it was. Intentionally... maybe... but effectively, no. She clearly had a good heart, but it beat for a world that didn't care. I would never martyr myself for any group of people, no matter who they are, or how unjustly they are treated, because they will never pay back the favor. They'll just oppress another group once they have the power.

It's sad and sick that a man would drive a bulldozer over another human being... unfortunately, it's not shocking.

Am I fatalist? I don't mean to be. Don't want to be. But what can I do about reality? "Be the change you want to see in the world"? Please.

This poor girl... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UK8Z3i3aTq4 A victim of too much faith.
