I was just at the Radio City show on the 9th. Truly an amazing night and a terrific album. In fact they played 9 of the 10 songs off the new album that night.

I saw that. I am going to the Philly show as well and The Mann. I really wish I would have planned ahead and traveled to Nashville to see them at Ryman Auditorium. Oh well next time!!

Makes sense since he may very well be neck and neck with Ed as best songwriters of this era. His lyrics are amazing.

No Problem. If I were you I would start with the new album and work backwards. I think they steadily got better with each record!!

I'd start with 'I'm Wide Awake It's Morning'.
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

yeah, definitely his best. i'd rank the best conor oberst oput as follows:

bright eyes - i'm wide awake its morning
bright eyes - digital ash in a digital urn
    conor oberst - self titled
monsters of folk (he's all over this record)
    bright eyes - cassadaga
bright eyes - the people's key
conor oberst - gentlemans pact ep

theres a ton more after all of the above. desaparecidos - read music/speak spanish is ok too.

I'm Wide Awake It's Morning is widely considered his masterpiece, and rightfully so...but Lifted Or The Story Is The Soil Keep Your Ear To The Ground is one of my favorite albums of all time. love the new one too. i actually love every bright eyes album. his other work (aside from a handful of songs) never really clicked with me like bright eyes...except his stuff with monsters of folk. must be something with him and mike mogis that just works. either way, i hope there is more bright eyes in the future, or i at least hope conor continues to record with mogis. Their music is beautiful.

Anyone going to the free show in Salt Lake City on 8/11?

I'm trying to get some support for a pre-show party/fundraiser but need to gauge the interest because there is virtually no online community of Bright Eyes fans like there is for Pearl Jam. If you're interested in donating or volunteering and want to help out please let me know.

    Thanks.
