last night,as i listened through Binaural it dawned on me..the similarities between these two albums!

the diversity between the songs..not just the music but the lyrics/topics,the different emotions they stir, the willingness of the band to once again throw everything out the window and start from scratch and redefine their sound.

I know i am in a very small segment of the fan base because of my belief that Binaural is one of PJ's best albums...and that shit never ceases to perplex me!!

I can't understand how most of you think this album is one of their worst musical efforts!that shit doesn't compute!!

I have come to the conclusion that just like how after VS. a lot of "fans" jumped ship because they weren't able to expand their minds to be compatible with the music (still stuck in Evenflow & Jeremy land) a lot of you Binaural haters weren't able to (once again) make the transition to a new/different sound.

...don't take that the wrong way because i am in no way implying I'm above you in any way or that I'm a better fan than you because i love/get Binaural.

Maybe us Binaural folk are more adaptable or more open to change than the rest of you...which isn't a boast,it's just the nature of our species! ;)

I just want to say i think Binaural is a fucking masterpiece (and Sleight of hand is one of the best songs Pearl Jam has ever made!!) and maybe one day you will change your mind and come over to our side...there's plenty of room for you all! :D

  • I second that Binaural is a fucking masterpiece... and Sleight of Hand is one of my favorite PJ songs.

  • No Code is excellent. Binaural is not. Ten is the only masterpiece.

    :)
  • I've always thought this of No Code/Riot Act. When listened back to back the albums have an amzaingly similar feel/flow/sound. From openers can't keep-save you, Sometimes-Hail Hail, to the closers All or None, Around the Bend

Ironically I still like No Code way more than Riot Act

I like the pictures and the artwork of Binaural better than I like the music.

I used to not like Binaural, but it's definitely a more complex album musically and lyrically, which is why it is not for everyone. It has slowly climbed up the ranks for me, and there is not one song on that album that i don't like. A very solid album with varying styles of music. I wish they'd play some Binaural more often, of the 8 shows I've seen, songs off Binaural have only been played twice.

binaural is very complex, and it gets you thinking. i was actually just listening to it now before i logged on here. it's got a different feel to it than all other albums. lyrically, its up there as one of my favorites. as a whole, however, i really like it a lot, but its not my favorite pj album.

binaural really took off for me after hearing the 2000 boots, it sounded so good on stage. but to get a good appreciation for the album & the way it's recorded you NEED to listen to this on a good pair of headphones, sublime.

nothing as it seems is a seriously underrated song these days, from an obscenely underrated album.

  • i wanna set the record straight and say that binaural is amazing. complex, beautifully crafted, deep, there is not one bad song on there. as for the connection to no code, i'm gonna have a listen tonight and see for myself :)

I too agree with both quality and similarity to no code. I've always said that binaural is to no code as riot act is to yield.

i think its a great album. my favorite is always changing. but i would say that it is always floating around in the middle of the pack for me. but there are times when i listen to to it non-stop.

    great album.
    Peace, Love.
