Isn't anyone going to argue for Led Zeppelin? Fugazi? The Ramones?

Advanced apologies for possible rant, BUT! This is one of my biggest gripes with the board/some PJ fans! The whole "if you like Pearl Jam, you need to like/love this and this and this band or artist (Soundgarden, AIC, Chris Cornell..), otherwise you're a shite fan" absolutely drives me crazy.
What the hellish feck does it matter, huh?! Just because I don't think Cornell is a god, doesn't mean I can't enjoy Indifference fully. Ffffraaaaahhg!
Now for the necessary disclaimer:
I know this thread is meant to be for fun and I don't mean to insult anyone.
So, yeah, continue.
I've always thought PJ was a mix of Led Zeppelin and The Who.
Although I think they do share some similarities to U2, I don't see strong enough of a musical connection.

What new bands? My Morning Jacket?

Then pick three bands Eddie hasn't mentioned. If you don't want to play, don't give some pompous lame response.

I am simply stating bands that Eddie has been known to like not previously mentioned in this thread.
I've always had Uncle Neil on my ipod.
PJ - Auckland 2009; Alpine Valley1&2 2011; Man1, Am'dam1&2, Berlin1&2, Stockholm, Oslo & Copenhagen 2012; LA, Oakland, Portland, Spokane, Calgary, Vancouver, Seattle 2013; Auckland 2014, Auckland1&2 2024
EV - Canberra, Newcastle & Sydney 1&2 2011
Actually I don't have any Liam Finn which is an oversight I will shortly fix. I did enjoy him when I saw him open for Eddie. I will also be seeing him again at the Wilco fest in June.
For me the attitude of the Clash is more in sync with PJ. U2 kind of has that feel, but they try to not be too political where Pearl Jam and The Clash wear it more on their sleeve. Plus The Clash did it first.

That quote just made my frickin day!
It's a very good point though, through PJ and this forum I've gotten into a lot of new music. Don't think I could narrow it down to three, as said above me, everyone has their own tastes etc.
It does bug me though when someone says 'you like PJ but you don't like *insert part of the PJ family tree here*'

even i have an ipod...come on...jump in...whatcha waiting for?
besides u look silly on the tube with a discman
if you are a pe jam fan then you are an obvious music fan...you should also understand that this tread is completely useless because it all comes down to personal taste
You'd think that, but there are alotta people that have only got bitten by the PJ bug. I've seen countless people on here that listen to only PJ.
i wud definitely agree that there are some fans in every group that always think that way(love 1 band only)
however i really do believe that most pj fans are different than most rock fans. pj's music is so not easily defined. for example how many other band's fans would love it if their lead singer put out a uke only cd? there is, dare i say, a sophistication that sets pj fans apart from the pack. this band is an acquired taste. there many ups and down and not all of the songs sound/move the exact same way. it's like drinking fine wine, you either get it or you don't, and chances are if you get it then you get all red wine(types)
nice
Just because one is a Pearl Jam fan doesn't mean one SHOULD like those bands for ANY reason. It depends on ONE'S musical tastes, likes, dislikes and musical background. For me I listen to the different genres of music from heavy metal, funk, reggae, hard rock, classical, a bit of rap, to sometimes and I repeat SOMETIMES country music (but I seriously have to be depressed
I do like those bands you mentioned, I've seen them all at least twice but it has nothing to do with being a Pearl Jam fan,.....I rate those bands FAR above PJ, I've loved those bands long BEFORE Pearl Jam were ever even formed.
I've had peeps ask me how can you be a PJ fan and love U2, RUSH, Megadeth, Sly and the Family Stones, Prong, ACDC, Black Uhuru, James Brown, Joe Satriani Living Colour, Parliament Funkadelic, Vivaldi, Otis Redding and even Garth Brooks and I'll tell them because I fucking love their music :!:
