I would like to propose an idea for a continual thread about the dumbest things we hear (or read) everyday from the world of talk shows, politics and news.

Simple rules. Post once a day with the best hyperbole you have heard and where it came from.

Please post away. This isn't partisan, this is hyperbole and ridiculous statements, and I would hope that we can all understand the difference!!

links are always appreciated for a good laugh

This is an oldie but a goodie, but i thought I would include it as a good start. Let's keep it light people, lots of terrible shit going down these days and I think everyone can use a laugh.

starts at 1:05 for those interested in this beauty...

  • We'll call this thread Operation How Could This End In Political Attacks?
  • OK... A few years ago I was mailing in my absentee ballot to the state of New Mexico. I asked for over night and was billed $50.

I was shocked. When I asked "why is it so much to Albuquerque?"

    "well, that's international, sir."

    "um... International"

"Well, you're mailing it to New Zealand"

"What? No, I'm mailing it to Albuquerque, New Mexico. That's a state in America."

"Oh... sorry, I thought it was going to Australia."

"Um... I thought you said New Zealand."

"Yeah.... duh... New Zealand is IN Australia."

I was going to say "trying to edit yourself and instead quoting yourself is pretty dumb, as is posting in a really bad mood. In related news, the bar is open and I'm feeling much better.

I went to school in NC, and one of my friends from NY was dating a girl from a small town in NC. For Xmas break he went back home, and she stayed in NC. One night, she called him at his parents' house in NY at about 8:00. When my friend's father answered, she said, "I'm sorry Mr. 'Smith,' I hope I didn't wake you up. What time is it up there?"

A lot of dumb stuff came out last week at the Radical islam hearings, but I for one find this to be the dumbest

Zuhdi Jasser, founder and president of American Islamic Forum for Democracy, lamented, "We've surrendered the constitution to the jihadists."

Nothing quite like [this part redacted by the jihadists that took over the constitution and removed the first amendment]

how can you not help but laugh at how ridiculous this statement is...

hyperbole at its finest...here is a link to just a couple gems from last week
