Arc's emotional effect

i was listening to an Ed solo show boot i found on the net (wish they would release an official copy of any show) tonight is exactly one week since i saw him at the Opera house in Boston where i saw Arc live for the first time and was totally blown away.

I've had a rough couple of weeks.my wife had a near death experience (health problems) so i had a few drinks tonight (need to escape for awhile)and threw the boot into my stereo and reminisced about last weeks show
.
I invited my mother(she is 67) to come listen to Arc with me and explained the significance behind it (Roskilde).we both had tears in our eyes as Ed whaled hauntingly away.when it was over she said she could hear the pain in his voice and that it obviously meant a lot to him.I told her he had tears running down his face after he performed it at the Opera house.

With my mind in the place that it is and hearing/feeling Ed's pain,i felt like he was there with me saying "i know your sorrow".

some may think I'm crazy but i found it comforting and somewhat therapeutic.

thanks Ed.

  • INDEED! Arc was quite the stunner at both NY and Newark EV Solos. I was entirely in awe! :D

  • Ed performance of Arc on his solo tour has been really healing for me too and hearing 3 different versions live was a real summer treat. Call me crazy but I even have a play list on itunes with all Arc repeated 20+ times and I often play it at low volume as I go to bed or I leave it on repeat if I want my dogs to chill out when I am off at work. Pitbulls and Chihuahuas can get a little wild sometimes together!

I am sure that Arc will always leave a permanent memory for those who get to see this live and be touched by the sound.

it's the kinda piece that just digs in to you the right away...a way that words sometimes can't. you can't help but feel it

I was thinking today about what made Ed and Mike's performance of Masters of War at the Bob Dylan 30th Anniversary so incredibly powerful. Of course the lyrics and Ed's voice and phrasing are brilliant. And there's something about the stillness of Ed's stance and Mike's rhythmic sway that adds another level. But then there's something else....it's like Eddie has waves of outrage pulsating off of him.

With Arc, it's pure sorrow that radiates.
