Soft Water

I absolutely hate, with a passion, soft water. I live in a condo building where nothing can be done about it because it's building-wide, not individual condos. It takes me 20 minutes to get the soapy feeling off me once I start rinsing. Hate it.

    It does suck but hard water is a problem too. There's no winning.

    if they are using softners there is a reason behind it.

    there would be ALOT of problems if they used hard water in the plumbing/heating system.

    Why don't you use less soap? Soft water doesn't make you slippery look it up, that feeling is your body's natural pores

    Yeah we have a water softener filter thing at my house. It takes forever to get the soap out of my hair but it's better than having to replace corroded fixtures every 6 months which we were doing.

    It's funny because I paid a lot of money to get my water soft. I have a whole house filter and I love it. You're not actually still soapy, you just have to get used to it. Good luck!

    what do you mean by a whole house filter?

    btw i'm a plumber. thats why i'm asking. i'm always interested in what people have.

    I have a filter (based in my basement) that filters all the water that comes to my house. So I don't have to have a seperate filter for the sink, the shower, etc. All of the water in my house is filtered upon entry to my home. I've had it for about 10 years, and I love it! It filters and softens the water. I have to replace the salt block (that softens the water) every other month or so and the filters are replaced every year.

    We have a water softening unit like a hot water heater type deal that holds salt and sits at the pipe where the water comes into the house.

    Whole house-likely a carbon/charcoal filter that removes chlorine from water


    If so it likely should be changed annually depending on size and water usage, carbon however doesn't soften your water

    So is it a straight up softner or some type of duel softener/filtering tank? Because I have never seen anything like that before. Although I do commercial plumbing and I don't know alot about special residential things like that.

    You can buy a "mixed bed" softener that would have both resin and carbon and would do both jobs that is what I have as well as a reverse osmosis system for my drinking water and ice

    RO systems are nice. the only problem with them is that some of them can waste alot of water.

    I wish I had a water softener in my condo!!!!

    Makes my skin MUCH, MUCH happier!
    That and it cleans your dishes and clothes better than hard water.

    hard water = excessive minerals in the water

    soft water = excess minerals removed from water
