NOT THE OLD ME

Cluttered with weight
Clinging to the pounds of a swirling nightmare
In both hands, a meat cleaver
Held at chest height
Arms bent upwards at 90 degrees
Wife & child wishing for the real Dad back
In front of the fuckin' police
Center stage, street side, front row with disco ball red & blue
He screams, "Just shoot me!"

    True story too. I recently met this guy who was in this scenario. He truthfully stood there in front of the police with meat cleavers in front of his wife & child and screamed just shoot me to the police. The police used the taser on him four times till he dropped. He told me that the first time he was hit with the taser, he pulled it out of himself. He had done 16 grams of cocaine over the span of the early evening into the early hours of the next morning. I can't even comprehend that.

    He is getting help for his addiction to cocaine but from what I understood, he used the drug as a coping mechanism. His issues run deeper than any drug.
