i guess his label thinks its smart to pull all clips of him from youtube, so if you want to hear his songs you have to purchase them...but in this day and age, it seems like free exposure to have your stuff on there...especially live shows that arent for sale anyway..it seems like the kids of today may not be turned on to him at all, since youtube seems to be where they look for songs (me too)

edit - having just checked youtube again, there are a few clips of him on there, Like a Rolling Stone and Knockin on Heavens Door, but thats it...some songs you find like Blowin in the Wind turn out to be cover versions by someone playing in their bedroom.....theres a LOT of songs and live stuff that were on there that have been pulled
"I'll tell you what: If all I had was Pearl Jam, and I didn't have another band in the world, I would not be worried. Because in there is the essence of making great music. You don't have to use it all at once, but it's there." - Neil Young

I have never understood this kind of thinking. The more people who listens increases your chance of buying. Simple. Now half the time you get a message saying something about copyright and 'not available in your country'

Do they think 'well bob dylan isn't on youtube I guess I should just head down to my nearest cds store and buy one' :wtf:
  • Funny how it's Dylan.

My how things come full circle.

Yeah, seem to be a lot of covers. They are definitely piggy-backin off dylan. But there is still a lot of dylan on there.

This kind of thing really does bother me and turns me off from an artist all together. Quit trying to fight the age of digital media and just accept it for what it is. :?

I don't think he's fighting it, he's as progressive as any artist, you can buy all his stuff on itunes. Copyright laws are a legal issue handled by lawyers. It's not like Dylan is sitting in his living room making calls to get his songs removed from you tube. He's done it all in music, I don't think we should be slamming the legend of all legends.

For some reason I think Dylan isn't too worried about exposure and growing an audience

he's not the guy calling the shots when it comes to copyright law in music, probably his label...and besides, his music is available to people, it's just not being given away. I'm not slamming anyone, but it's just a little interesting when people get a little upset that a song or album isn't given free access; funny how much has changed in the past 10 years.

I agree that artists/labels/corporations - whatever- are basically retarded for not allowing people to post videos on Youtube. But anyway, that's okay, we've still got the Wilburys to enjoy.
