again, with the number of unwed moms in this country, he would rather take shots at them instead of helping fix the problem...It's the republican way... i mean, portman is happy and will be a good mom, and she is engaged, so what the fuck is his issue here????

Mike Huckabee slams Natalie Portman for pregnancy
'It's unfortunate that we glorify and glamorize ... out-of- wedlock children,' politician says

She won over the Academy, but Natalie Portman doesn't have a fan in presidential prospect Mike Huckabee.

The former Arkansas governor and Fox News Channel host attacked the best actress winner, 29, who's currently expecting her first child with fiance Benjamin Millepied.

"People see a Natalie Portman who boasts, 'we're not married but we're having these children and they're doing just fine," Huckabee told radio host Michael Medved on his show Monday. "I think it gives a distorted image. It's unfortunate that we glorify and glamorize the idea of out-of- wedlock children."

Calling Portman's pregnancy "troubling," Huckabee went on to say that many single parents don't have the resources to hire help, the way someone like the "Black Swan" star would.

"Most single moms are very poor, uneducated, can't get a job, and if it weren't for government assistance, their kids would be starving to death and never have health care," he said. "And that's the story that we're not seeing."

In her acceptance speech Sunday night, Portman thanked Millepied, saying he gave her "the most important role" in her life.

Medved quipped back that Millepied "didn't give her the most wonderful gift, which would be a wedding ring!"
Huckabee admitted he misspoke about the President and Kenya.
Is Natalie Portman any better than anyone else because she won over the Academy? I thank if you ask any child they want to have a mother and father..and they want them to be married. But yes todays society just want to do what they want to do. No right or wrong anymore.

I know Natalie Portman... not very well... but she lived down the street from me for three years... in a small town... and she went to HS with my cousin... and so on and so on and so on.... She is a beautiful, smart, classy, talented and very well-spoken, intelligent woman.... I do believe her child HAS a mother and a father... interesting point you make though... whatever it is.... oh yeah.... that she should have your values... and Mike Huckabees values... because those values are better than hers...

    nice values...

Do you really think children do not care if they have a mother or father?

the immaculate conception pertains to the conception of the virgin mary, that she be born without the stain of original sin, not christs birth.

immaculate is from the latin macula, meaning stain.

    as for huckabee..

.. perhaps hed have preferred natalie portman to hide her 'shame' by getting an abortion??? my children 's parents have never been married, nor are together... and have not been for 12 years. all four are thriving and have not once bought to my, or their fathers attention their desire for us to be married.
    hear my name
    take a good look

More than one person went off the deep end on this thread beginning with the OP who set the tone. Sexist, rude, crude posts are not ok here. It was surprising to see who stooped to that level on this topic. We expect better from you if you're going to post here. See the Posting Guidelines and every other post an Admin has made here for guidance on what is ok and what isn't. Having a read-only account isn't going to be as much fun. Debating should be intelligent, not abusive. Thoughtful, reasonable and articulate discussion is the way to go in A Moving Train. Attacking someone's family because you disagree with their politics is not thoughtful and articulate.

Still reading the thread; do not be surprised if your account becomes read-only.
