Question for L.A. people

Hey guys,

Looks like I will be in Los Angeles (well Ontario anyway) for two, possibly three weeks in April (for work). Got a question.

Looking at going to see Chris Robinson at the Echoplex. He is playing there a few times. Just wondering about the place, the area around it, what it is like, etc.? I know it is near Echo Park and Dodger Stadium.

I've been to LA a couple of times but not familiar with the area too much.

    echoplex is in the silver lake area...it's a hip area with lots of clubs and restaurants

    fyi, the drive from ontario to la can take upwards of an hour depending on the time of day...i'm assuming you're staying there due to work?

    Ontario, CA is about 30 miles or so east of downtown LA.

    Yes. Not sure where yet. Probably close to the airport. Details are still sketchy at this point. I'll know more tomorrow.

    I'm embarrassed to have two friends that live in silver lake though. :mrgreen: Can we get a certain group of people to move out of that area, then we can talk it up as a 'hip' area again? :lol:

    If you're staying around the Ontario airport, Flagg, it's about a 40 mile drive from there to the echoplex. Later into the work week that can sometimes turn into a 2 hour drive on the 10. The 60 used to be a decent alternate route to skip the 10, but with all the construction that's been going on with the freeways in Riverside county the last 10 years, I don't think it makes a difference anymore.

    As norm said there's a few spots for eats and drinks. Also you can get back on the 101 and head north a few miles and then you have santa monica blvd, and sunset blvd again, with more options of nightlife drinks and eats and live music and stupid tourist attractions.

    If JoeJoeJoe responds in here I'm sure he could give you a full review of every restaurant worth attending in a 10 mile radius of the echoplex. He's always given me some great advice on new places to eat. :D

    I'm working late tonight. Well...not working...waiting on an e-mail. Thought I'd stop by! I still lurk and read around these parts a few minutes here and there, but haven't really posted.

    I've been remodeling majorly at home. So work, work on the house, eat and sleep for me. And maybe the bar a couple nights a week as well. :lol: Actually I'll be slacking this week. I'm heading out to Laughlin this weekend. :mrgreen:

    Oh also forgot to mention about Pomona, Flagg.

    There's two great music venues that are near Ontario. You might find some good shows there. The Glasshouse is dry, just a head's up in case you're a drinker at shows. Both places have free parking. Also, I call it a great venue because it generally has a great atmosphere, but the building is old, and it's just a floor with a stage in the corner.

    The Fox Theater is newly remodeled and it turned out really nice.

    I'm not sure when you'll be here, but you can check out their calendars and see if there's anything you like.

    Thanks! Tiring, but definitely worth it. Plus it's found an excuse for my buddy and I to hang out a bit more than normal right after he just got engaged. :lol: Our days are limited.

    I am not an L.A. person. I'm a northern cali person. But I look forward to being in LA in a month. That's all I have to share sorry oops lol
