By no means would I really consider myself a Seether fan, but credit where it's due, I think this is a pretty good cover.

  • This is a good cover. These guys always play some good covers, a lot of old school grunge stuff too!

I know a lot of people on here prolly hate Seether but I like most of their stuff. The last album was 50/50 but their first two albums were pretty good. They have another album coming out in May(?) and I'll be checking it out for sure. They put on a good live show too.

Laugh it up all you want, it's a decent cover - he even manages to not do his OTT Kurt Cobain impression for once which is nice! I particularly like the cello, adds to the haunting tone of the song.

That's my main problem with what I've heard from them. Sing like yourself, not like someone else.

That is a pretty good cover. I agree Seether has done some pretty good covers, they have great musical influences. I like some of their own stuff as well. "Broken" and "driven under" are two of seether's songs that are really good. Are they good live? Haven't had a chance to see them in concert, but would like too. One cover I was really impressed with that they did was "careless wisper" by George Michael. Totally gave the song a grungier/ darker edge.

this is better. Seether tries TOO MUCH to be like their influences. I mean, seriously, one of their logos is a complete ripoff of the In Utero record cover.

this is the link to see Seether's:

    Nirvana's

I liked their first album, and the acoustic one, but the rest is all just the same shit. Not bad, but the same. Every band they seem to idolize did something different from one record to the next; they don't. Neither does their buddies Three Days Grace. First record? Awesome. Second record? Ok, but more of the same. Third record: again more of the same but even shittier

That's why I hate the term post-grunge. These bands give "grunge" a bad name. One trick ponies.

i cant do it. needle and the damage done is not only my fave neil young song, its quite possibly my favourite song of all time. i cringe whenever i hear of someone covering it. i know im being precious but i dont care. some songs in my life are untouchable... needle and the damage done is one of them.

Is it all right when Ed does it? Cause I love the version he did in Chicago 09.

    probably not.

in case you didnt catch it in my post i said whenever i hear of someone covering it, not whenever i hear someone covering it. in all possibility its likely i wouldnt even entertain ryan adams covering it... and im hopeless about that guy.

oh sure i might be missing out on some great coverings of it, but for me there is only one version. 8-)

I saw Seether open up for Audioslave awhile back and they covered a Nirvana song (can't remember which one though) which sounded real good. He sounds a lot like Kurt.

I saw that tour too. and that's what bothers me about it. I like covers where the band makes it their own, not copies it note for note. All these shitty bands coming out now get famous off one cover song that they contribute nothing to. Like Disturbed's Phil Collin's cover. And that new one on the radio, Five Finger Death Punch I think it is doing some cover song I can't remember. Same tuning, just heavier. See? Forgettable.

Seether rocked on their first. They would have been great if they had evolved.

Disturbed? That cover came out like 10 yrs ago or so.. I don't think you can really say they are famous cause of that song, that was a pretty damn good album.. I don't listen to them anymore but they are still doing their job and sticking around with a strong fan base that keeps them around..

i'm not into most mainstream rock radio but i have to respect Seether simply for their musical tastes and influences. Immortality is one of my fav PJ songs and i simply respect the fact that this band has good enough taste to cover it.

That's a damn good cover, thanks for sharing.

I've only heard early Seether, been getting into them more and more though, slowly progressing through a lot of new music at the moment and these are definitely a band I want to hear more from. Glad to hear there's a new album coming soon too.

Thanks for sharing all the links guys, I'm not a massive Uncle Neil fan, but Needle and The Damage Done is a haunting song, beautiful. And it was nice to see the covers posted.

You're thinking of "Shout 2000" - they did that one too (came out in 2000, hence the name)

And I agree with you - killer song and album, but that's not what made them famous

I thought this was a solid cover, actually. The only thing I didn't like about it was the fact that it seemed a bit too orchestrated for a song that's meant to be simplistic. Other than that, I think it was pretty good.
