dont play any instruments at all...and looking for a total complete change in my life... im in banking and i hate my job/current life situation... i think the didge would be theraputic on several levels...

I have no idea where to even begin...

any suggestions?

i live in nj and cannot seem to find anyone in the area who sells these things... also not looking to break my bank acct buying one... there are a bunch on ebay for cheap...but i figure you get what you pay for...though it may be a good place to start as a newbie...
it's largely due to eddie that i liked to jump off of things as a child...

Yeah, pretty pricey hey? It's pretty difficult getting your breathing right apparently, I've only had a short try at one but I don't think women are actually supposed to use them??????? That could be wrong, don't quote me on that! :D

  • i guess they use a technique called circular breathing... its looks like so much fun... just wanna go out to a deserted place... or a beach at night during a full moon and just have some fun... im sure its hard as hell... but id love to try

  • I just like the didgeridoo because it's supposed to be an onomatopoeia.
If hope can grow from dirt like me ...
  • I studied abroad in Australia when I was in college and a buddy of mine bought one while we were over there. i don't think he ever figured out how to play it, but it makes for a cool piece of artwork. I'll have to see if he still has it now as I am curious.

From what I remember, you blow a raspberry with your lips and hum at the same time. The breathing in while your humming is the hard part. :? :D

Never played it but I heard that it's a great tool if you want to quit snoring. Was watching some health show once and to play the didgeridoo was one of the recommendations they gave if you have sleep apnea or a snoring problem.

I know you said your in NJ, but in State College, PA, every summer Penn State holds an "Arts Fest," and there is this awesome old guy who runs his own little stand where he sells beautiful handmade didgeridoos at a reasonable price. Worth checking out :D
  • I've been playing the didgeridoo for years. Its best to start out with something cheap. Many on Ebay are made from PVC pipe. I would suggest making one yourself. Just buy a 6 foot PVC pipe at Lowes and melt the end down some to make it comfortable for your lips. This is what I learned it from. I've taught several friends how to make the droning sound with a half hour or so. Go to youtube to find some clips on how to make the first initial sound and once you get this you can do a lot with it. The reciprical breathing is the tricky part but you can still play it without using this technique. You'll figure it out.
