My son and I are going to see Eric Clapton tomorrow night. Just wondering if anyone has been to see him on this tour and what I might expect to hear.

I just saw him two weeks ago. Expect a no-frills 2 hour blues jam session. My only gripes about the show was that he played a stripped down Layla, as he was the only guitarist in the band. But he did play a certain Cream song called Badge that totally blew me away.
  • I saw him last year and I honestly left disappointed. The show wasn't very long and there was just too many songs that I wanted to hear but didn't. A lot of people were complaining while headed to the parking lot. I'm glad I can at least say I saw him live though.

I don't expect him to play all the songs I'd like to hear. Otherwise it would be a Cream show. Been telling my son to expect a blues show and it sounds like that's what we'll get. Probably get that same set-list as Seattle but can't imagine being dissappointed.

I last saw him in 2009 and left disappointed. I'd seen him 4 times before that and they were excellent shows with Doyle Bramhall on guitar for all 4 and Derek Trucks for 2 of them. The band on the last show seemed old and tired and Eric seemed lacking in enthusiasm. With Doyle and Derek and a much younger band they set the place alight with phenomenal versions of After Midnight and Motherless Children. They almost had to hose down the drummer after those. I think if the drummer at show 5 had tried he would have dropped dead.

There were some dodgy reviews after the 09 shows so hopefully he listened and you enjoy.

Glad to hear it! I saw him last year with Steve Winwood at Wembley, and am catching them again at the Royal Albert Hall. I have options on a ticket for the week before when it's just EC and band. I'm tempted to catch both.
The secret to a happy ending is knowing when to roll the credits

Totally agree. That tour with Derek Trucks was stunning.
