This band deserves a thread. They fucking rock. Dave Grohl said it perfectly when speaking about Lemmy:
Fuck Elvis and Keith Richards, Lemmy's the king of rock 'n' roll - he told me he never considered Motörhead a metal band, he was quite adamant. Lemmy's a living, breathing, drinking and snorting fucking legend. No one else comes close.
Currently listening to Another Perfect Day - what a kick ass record!!

Love Motorhead. I haven't got round to their new album yet though.
Have you seen the documentary on him released last year?
No Sleep 'til Hammersmith is a great live album if you Haven't go it yet.0 -

I've heard a lot about that live record but have yet to hear it. I'll make the effort now.

Fantastic record. I've seen Motorhead twice but its been a good 6/7 years since I have done. Need to correct that soon.0 -

Big Motorhead fan here, have been for 22 years, have 19 of their albums. Seen em twice which is cool considering I'm down here in New Zealand. Definately get No Sleep Til Hammersmith, one of the best live albums ever. Best albums would be Overkill, Ace Of Spades, Another Perfect Day and Hammersmith I'd say. Lemmy also has a book out called White Line Fever which is cool. You might also want to check out the albums he played on with Hawkwind, definately the best ones in their catalogue are the ones with Lemmy, Doremi Fasol Latido, Space Ritual ( live ), Hall Of The Mountain Grill and Warrior On The Edge Of Time.0

The Lemmy documentary is amazing. I love how there is no pretense about him...he does what he does, and says what he says, with no remorse!
The scenes in his tiny West Hollywood apartment (he boasts about it being rent-controlled), and him at the trivia machine at the Rainbow, make him seem like such a modest person. He always has time for his fans when they approach him in public. His regular every-day life seems to be the total opposite of his rockstar life.
Perhaps one of the best music documentaries I have ever seen.0 -

There's an English made-for-TV documentary on Lemmy, too. 2003-era. I'm sure it's on a download site somewhere. He's pouring from a 2 Litre bottle of JD, turns to the camera, and says: "Buy in bulk!"

I love Motorhead! I had a ticket to see them on the March or Die tour but the show was canceled due to Lemmy breaking a bone on tour. I'm finally seeing my first Motorhead show this coming Monday in NYC and am very excited!
I need to see that Lemmy documentary...missed it during its theatrical run.You see me empty, Sir, do not pause and inquire, simply assume and refill.

Excellent thread! Motorhead do indeed fucking rock. Last time I saw them my ear were ringing for three days afterwards. Lemmy is a total legend, the living embodiment of rock and roll. Can't wait to see them at Sonisphere Festival this summer (along with The Big Four!).
Check out this clip - Motorhead and Strippers it doesn't get any more Heavy Metal than that!

motorhead was just in town last week and they went into my friend's uncles vintage guitar shop and bought a few things. the show was sold out so i unfortunately missed it. faction on xm radio plays a lot of their music. i read an interview with lemmy not long ago and like someone said, no pretense about him. he seems like the most normal person you would meet.
was it the movie "airheads" where this scene is from?
band dude: "who would win in a fight between Lemmy and god?"
radio station exec: "ummmmmm..."
band dude: "trick question, Lemmy IS god!" lol..."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."0 -

Caught the tour with Clutch and Valiant Thor just a few days ago....they ruled. I remember sifting thru my babysitters LPS as a little kid...Motorhead, KISS, and Motley Crue...So cool to finally see them.
Super cool story:
A friend of mine’s son met Lemmy a year or so ago and got his autograph on his skin, which he then had inked…. while having dinner before the Vancouver show a week or so ago, met a friend of the tour manager, got talking, showed him the tat etc..…the guy got him VIP seats/access for the Van and Calgary shows. He hung out with Lemmy before the Calgary show and played him a bunch of music from local bands (he’s in one)…he got to go shopping with Lemmy before the Edmonton show, had dinner with Phil and Mikkey, then went to the casino after with Lemmy…he then flew to Kitchener to meet up with Valiant Thor and catch Motorhead again in Toronto….He’s a pretty young kid (think he’d be 20 now?)…his mom says his feet haven’t touched the ground in weeks…says Lemmy reminds him of his recently passed grandpa...which to me means that yes...he is a totally down-to-earth guy....and it sounds like they’re pretty good to their fans0 -
A friend of mine took this awesome pic at the show....could be from 1978...he looked like he was in his sixties then...but hasn't changed since!0

Finally got round to watching the Lemmy film last night. Superb. The guy is a living legend.
There is so much cool stuff on the DVD - amongst a multitude of Metal Goodies - the "extras" disc contains a jam with Metallica that ROCKS!
Can't wait to see them again at Sonisphere in the Summer!!0 -

i caught them on this same tour, but in new york city, and it was my first time seeing them. they're one band i have wanted to see for years, and along with two of my other favorite bands being on the bill--clutch and valient thorr--having the chance to see all three of these bands in one evening was not a chance i was willing to pass up, especially at $40 for the ticket.
an amazing show and excellent musicianship by all bands that played that evening. a great chapter to add into my "book of life".i have witnessed some performances. i have soaked up a lot of memories.0 -
Saw them live at the Sonisphere Festival last year - great show. And Lemmy - well, what is there to be said about that guy that hasn't been said before? Legend.Bern - September 13, 2006

I'm so excited to have the chance to see them with the Foo Fighters....if Lemmy doesn't join Dave for some jamming at the end of the show I'll be sorely disappointedAll I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow
