i can't be bothered reading that article because i've seen the website. i heard it was taken down for breaching TOS. anyway, the more attention it got, the more money they probably made from ad click throughs.

let's not lose sight of the fact that thousands of cantabrians are suffering right now, some still without water, power and functioning sewerage systems

and the death toll stands at around 150 people from 20 different countries, expceted to rise to about 200 once the bodies are fully recovered

perhaps we could refrain from the jokes and smiley laughey emoticons for a little while when the thread topic is still so raw for some of us

I mean no offence and understand the ridiculous nature of the topic the original post is about

    thanks

I just want to say I'm sorry, I just think those people who say things like that are utterly heartless and ridiculous and I apologize if I upset you, that was by no means my objective.

hey thanks, I wasn't aiming it at anyone, i guess I just get upset about the earthquake so easily, and I haven't been affected nearly as bad as those who lost loved ones. I'm a bit touchy about it. We're still learning how to deal with such a tragedy, and I saw this thread just after I had spent two minutes in silence along with the rest of NZ in respect for those who have died...and after learning that some of the victims are so badly injured that they may never be identified...it just didn't seem right to me to come accross a thread which is related to the earthquake with so many flippant jokes and those bloody little laughing facey things. like I said, emotions running high. thank you very much for your kind response, I hoped no one was going to take anything the wrong way

I am very lucky to have never experienced anything so horrific and could never understand what you guys have gone through. My hubby and I visited Christchuch in 2009 to see PJ and it's just so sad to see that beautiful city in such devastation. Our view from our hotel room was overlooking a building with a little burgundy, round, turret on top of it (not sure what it's called, sorry) and to see that same massive burgundy top on the ground and upside down absolutely shocked the hell out of me! The way you guys have come together though has amazed the rest of the world and your country truely has some damn heroic people. Once again, I'm sorry and please forgive this silly Adelaidian, she meant no harm and I love your country.

I was at that concert too, it was the last time I was in Christchurch. I guess it won't be the same next time we are there. At the moment they are projecting $20 billion NZD to rebuild and deal with the immediate aftermath, and are warning the city may not be back on it's feet properly for ten years

thank you so much for your kind words

I agree, who has time for ridiculous statements of hate and providing them the attention it surely does not deserve. Hate is a vicious circle that tries to bind love and keep it from growing.

Focus on love for our fellow human beings who are suffering and put all our energies into being positive and uplifting in their time of need.

So many brave people working night and day, sacrificing, giving, in a horribly overwhelming human tragedy.

Sharing the pain may lift some and carry it away. I pray with each rising sun relief for NZ and all those throughout the world who share in their pain.

This is what brings us together...our time of need.

Yea, it's horrible, I had the misfortune to see the live, unedited feed on tv just minutes after the quake happened, and I will never forget what I saw, and I wasn't even there, I just can't imagine what it must be like for those who were, my heart really goes out to them. But every good wish and loving intention we create really does help. Like this:
