Video Cameras

Hey Folks,

I was wondering what kind of cameras were used on many of the Pearl Jam Videos. I am most interested in the older looking footage, probably done with vintage cameras. I believe most of it is done by Eddie or the band. Anyway, if anyone can tell me I would love to know. Cheers

What specific videos are you talking about?
  • Immagine In Cornice has quite a bit of older footage in it. The insert says the photos from the video were transfered from Super 8 to High Definition. I have read that there were many other formats as well but I am unable to get the specifics. I have seen footage of Eddie somewhere (I can't find it now) using a camera onstage. I would like to know the specifics of the cameras, years, models etc..

Without seeing the specific shot of Ed with the camera you are talking about, it would be rather difficult to give you the make and model of the camera. Ed doesn't strike me as a "video" person though so my guess would be he either had an old Super 8 or 16mm film cam. I haven't seen the footage you are talking about though so I can't answer your question. I can tell you that Single Video Theory was shot on 16mm film, but as to the specific model of camera, who knows. The guys on stage shooting the Philly show looked to have Pansonic HVX200 cameras so that may be what Live at the Garden and some of the HD concert footage from Cornice were shot on.
  • In 5x1 Pearl Jam through the eye of Lance Mercer there is a shot of Ed with a video camera aimed at the photographer. Thats the type of camera I am trying to find the make and model of. I was going to post the pic but I couldn't find it anywhere online. Hopefully someone can help me out.
